Fabulous villa with private pool set in beautiful garden overlooking the lake
Magnificent 4 Bed Villa with 500m2 garden and a private pool for up to 10 people. This exquisite Villa is situated just to the North of Mennagio in the fabulous Golden Triangle area of Lake Como and has outstanding views of the lake and mountains It is relatively secluded while within walking distance of village restaurants and amenities. There are spectacular walks from the villa into the mountains and the lake is a short 100 mt walk passing a small vineyard and church.
The Villa (the pink house is Villa Perla)
Ground Floor
Large dining kitchen that is the centre of life at Villa Perla! Equipped with everything you would expect of an Italian kitchen, Listone Giordano oak floor, copper Smeg accessories, Alessi crockery, De Longi coffee machine and much more. Prepare a fresh coffee or yummy Italian food while gazing out the window at the lake.
The living room is opulently attired with two comfy sofas, an antique sideboard that used to live in the famous Turnberry Hotel in Scotland and some lovely Italian lighting. This room stays cool in summer and is cosy in the cooler months and is a great place to curl up and read a book or watch a movie. Newly fitted in 2023 with a Listone Giordano oak floor.
First Floor
There is a large family room with a super comfy king bed and a single bed if required. It has a very large wardrobe with internal drawer storage for those who cannot travel light! The view from this room is breathtaking and you will find that it is difficult to drag yourself out of bed, get some coffee from downstairs and drink in the view!
Kids - we have the best room for you. The second bedroom on this floor is equipped with a bunk bed and optional single bed. This is where my nephews hole up when they stay with their special dog light and ostrich picture. What's more it is right beside the shower room so no long journeys to get to the toilet! New sofa bed for 2023 with lush velvet cover.
The shower room has been fitted with a rain shower big enough to get a couple of kids in at a time or to indulge yourself. There is a beautiful slate sink (another piece that used to live in the Turnberry Hotel) and some lovely Pecksniff toiletries. New slate floor fitted in 2023.
Second Floor
As you come up to this floor you will spot the lovely chandelier that lights your way (you cannot miss it!) this used to grace the entrance to the Turnberry Hotel and is one of the main features of the villa.
The Master bedroom has arguably the best views in the Villa with vistas of both the Lake and the Alps. The Super King bed is enormous and fitted with a Tempur mattress that creates sleeping bliss. The wardrobe has journeyed from Tuscany to London and then onto Lake Como and, along with the beautiful local terracotta floor, gives the room a really traditional Italian vibe.
The second bedroom on this floor has twin beds with a view to the Lake and Pool. The furniture in this room has a French feel and is complemented with a beautiful herringbone wood floor.
The family bathroom has a very rustic feel with exposed beams and a cleverly hidden washing machine. There is a bath with a traditional shower and again this room is equipped with some nice toiletries. New ceramic parquet design floor fitted in 2023.
The Gardens
Outside is a veritable garden of eden with lemons, oranges, apples, figs, cherries, olives, walnuts, kiwis, plums and apricots all appearing at different times in the year. There are 2 seating areas in the garden, one with a beautiful view of the lake and another under a pergola covered in Wisteria.
In spring the garden is a mass of colour with azalea and wisteria while the late spring and early summer brings out the masses of jasmine, oleander and hydrangea. The autumn and winter produce some lovely colours and are a good time to get the lemons off the tree!
There is a large BBQ to feed 10, with 2 pizza stones, outside for some al fresco cooking if you can drag your self away from the kitchen.
A beautiful locally sourced stone path will lead you to the pool area which is also surrounded in the same materials to give this a very traditional and inviting feel. The pool itself is 10mt x 4.6mt and is equipped with 6 sun beds and is open from May to September. There is a shower at the edge of the pool and we provide you with pool towels so no need to take up space in your luggage!
The Area
The Villa is located a 2 min walk from the lake and it's position affords practically lakeside accommodation but without the drawback that some other properties have with traffic noise.
Santa Maria is a small village just north of Menaggio. It has a small supermarket, a pharmacy, a bank and 2 local restaurants that are accessible on foot via the fabulous Via Regina. One is awesome for Pizza the other for the fresh pasta (they only make it to order). There is also a beach area with a beach bar that serves food and drinks and has an area to dive into the lake should this be your thing.
A short walk along the beach will bring you to Santa Maria Rezzonico where the restaurants are located. There are also a couple of lovely beaches here and a labyrinth of little roads to explore.
The walks from the villa are beautiful with the famous Via Regina at the bottom of our garden. Following this path will take you to Aquaseria at the next little village that has a fabulous local shop selling both local fruit and veg alongside local olive oil, wine and beer! There is also another great pizza restaurant here called Creme Caramel that is worth a visit.
The town of Mennagio is only 7 mins away by car and has many fabulous restaurants and facilities
A fantastic experience. The house is really charming, very well equipped, spottless, and functional. Fits very well for 9 persones.
The garden is stunning, we have enjoyed breakfast and dinner surrounded by beautiful fruit trees, it was a real pleasure.
Suzanne is very helpful and cares a lot about her guests and her house. Highly recommended.
A mixed and honest review...Some really great things: thie views are amazing, the beds comfy, the kitchen one of the best I've ever rented and full of everything you could need to cook! The pool is wonderful and our kids made very good use of it! Not so good: It was clear when we arrived that the pictures are out of date and the one of the outside seating areas no longer exists, plys the garden was getting quite overgrown and needs some TLC. There is only 1 living area, which may have been clear but again the photos are of the same area set up in different arrangements, which had made me think there were a couple (my mistake!). When we arrived we found the upstairs bathroom had no toilet seat and the shower was not plumbed in. We've since been told we should have been notified but we hadn't and since then communication has not been forthcoming. The description says not to pack pool towels and that there are branded toiletries provided. We were asked to wash the pool towels before leaving, so although there were some it would have been good to have been made aware that this isn't included in the cleaning fee beforehand. There was a light in the kids room that when I plugged in, sparked at the switch, so I unplugged as this is clearly not safe. There were no bulbs in many of the bedroom lamps, so were unusable. Finally, the access to the house was via a steep path from where you park the car - thankfully not a problem for us this time, but could be for someone else!
Multilevel apartment in a beautiful hillside setting. Be prepared for uphill walking and stairs. Beautiful patio and outdoor garden/pool areas were the best aspects. Furnishings are a bit worn. We had some issues with utilities which the owner addressed appropriately. Close to Menaggio and easy access to Bellagio by ferry.
Uitzicht is geweldig. Aanrader
The Villa Perla was delightful. A quirky mix of the old and new.Good kitchen facilities for a group of 8. The bedrooms were stylish and the living room offered comfortable seating for everyone. The garden and pool were superb and very fully used during our stay. The owner was very helpful when we had a query and the issue was immediately resolved. ( Thank you Suzanne and Bianca). The Vrbo helpline was also very efficient. The star of the show however was the magnificent view of Lake Como from every window in the houseâŠ.absolutely superb.
It would have been helpful if on arrival there had been a sign at the top of Via Piano indicating the downward direction to the villa as we did have some issues locating it as there is a short walk down and uphill to and from the car to the property and be prepared for a bit of a hike to drop off rubbish prior to departure.
We would thoroughly recommend this beautiful property with some of the best views weâve seen.
