Our family has treasured our stays at Wine Down Old Florida Cottages over the years, drawn by its lush landscaping, proximity to the beach, and once-comfortable, contemporary coastal decor. Each visit was a relaxing retreatâuntil this year. For the first time, we encountered significant issues that marred our experience, with the property in disrepair and community amenities poorly maintained, raising safety concerns.Property Issues:âą Exterior: Peeling paint on entry stairs and back porch gave a neglected look.âą Kitchen: Chipped mugs, random measuring cups, mismatched cookware, and peeling non-stick pans made cooking challenging.âą Decor/Furniture: The charming wicker seating was replaced with uncomfortable backless stools and low-end vanity chairs. The sofa, part of a foldaway bed, lacked foam support, leaving only metal springs, making it unusable for seating.âą Bedding: The primary king bed had zero loft or support, feeling like a worn-out efficiency mattress. The bunk mattress was equally unsupportive, leading to restless nights.âą BBQ Grill: Non-functional pilot light, corroded burners, and grease buildup caused flare-ups. The sink faucet sprayer was clogged.Community Amenities:âą Walkway: Upturned pavers to the pool posed tripping hazards.âą Pool: Cloudy, untreated water with slime and seaweed; non-functional shower sprayers; flickering lighting.While the beachâs proximity was a saving grace, the propertyâs condition was disappointing.
