Fab location but needs minor repairs and a good clean
Fabulous location, this is a return trip but disappointed this time. Cottage in need of repair (bath seal totally gone, tap needs replacing as does the plug; socket behind the microwave not working). All can be forgiven but this time round cleanliness poor and that's not so easily forgiven - grill pan hadn't been cleaned, under sofas and behind bedside cabinets filthy, can't see through windows, and upon pulling out beds this morning to check we'd not left anything packing up there was crisps on the floor (Pringles, which we don't eat, especially in the bedroom!) along with dust and grime - gross! Clearly not cleaned properly before our arrival (it was spotless in April when we stayed). To top it off on arrival we went to make a cup of tea .... cottage booked for four, found only three mugs and next morning at breakfast only three egg cups. Need of repair can be forgiven (we were aware of bathroom since last visit but thought the plug chain might have been fixed at 60p expense?!) but poor cleanliness and a disregard to basic attention to detail cannot. Scarborough saw flash floods whilst we were there which provided a little concern watching the main road outside the property turn into a river, but all good our end. The cottage itself was fine but the drain in the back (car park area) is blocked so that area flooded. Don't get me wrong none of this ruined our hols but just dampened initial high spirits. We'd hoped to stay again but may look elsewhere next time, which is a shame because we LOVE the location. Just a few minor repairs and a full clean and the cottage will be fab again :-)
