This is a review of Travelocity. Despite confirming that I had a reservation multiple times on the Travelocity app, the Thompson hotel could not locate the reservation in their system and had to turn us away because they were full. The Thompson staff spent about 45 minutes on the phone with Travelocity trying to see they were just not finding the reservation, but the reservation could never be located. We had to leave and find another hotel at the last minute. The experience was frustrating and disappointing and makes we think twice before making another hotel reservation through Travelocity.

Willian - I am very sorry to hear we were not able to get you into a room despite the technical issues you experienced with your booking. I hope you'll be able to return and give us a try on your next visit to Seattle.

Service… what service??? This was a disaster as far as service! I fully understand and appreciate it’s hard to find workers in this market but come on… The front desk was worthless. The text to valet to get your car is a great thing but try coming back and finding a valet to take your keys and park your car. This is truly the worst hotel service I’ve experienced post-Covid total lockdown. I’ve stayed at 6 hotels since January. Extremely disappointed in The Thompson’s service. Go at your own risk. You’ve been warned.

I enjoyed the layout and updated feel of the room/bathroom. While my window faced the construction, it was promising to see what the view will be when complete.

For its contemporary design, even though it was a little bit dark for us.

The hotel is in a good location for either tourists or downtown business, as it is walking distance from most of the central Seattle attractions, the waterfront, Pike St Market, and many downtown businesses. The staff was solicitous and pleasant. The rooms are small, but well-appointed, and everything is fresh and modern, with lots of USB and electrical outlets, free WiFi, etc. I didn't get to check out the gym. The ground-floor restaurant (Scout) was pretty uninspiring, closed early-ish, and the after-hours room service menu was woefully short. I had high hopes for the rooftop bar, Nest, but it was closed the first night I was there for a private function. It is especially disappointing when the signature feature of a location is off-limits on a weekend night. I returned the next night, and the place was so overrun with drunk 20-somethings, I wasn't inspired to stay very long. Nonetheless, the views are spectacular, or would be if you could see through the crowds. One must be prepared for the expense ($54/day) of valet parking, as there are few 24-hour parking lots nearby.

Great view of Pikes Place Market and the mountains

Pros: View. Location. Nice fresh water by the elevator so you don't have to spend a fortune on bottled water.
Location: Moore and Showbox theatres close for live music. Cinerama was a great choice for movies within walking distance.
Perfectly located. We enjoyed walking almost to every attraction we were interested in. City Center, Pikes Place, Anything downtown. Great rooftop bar. Very popular.

Disappointing and overpriced.

Pros: Location
Cons: Very overpriced, mediocre service, mediocre accommodation.
Location: Near Pike Place, lots of good restaurants, good shopping.
First the good: this hotel is in a great location, and the beds are clean and comfortable. Sadly, that is about all that it has going for it. I had very high hopes when I booked in at the Thompson, but was very disappointed. It tries to be hip and funky, but fails. It is an old hotel that has been updated on the cheap. The bathrooms are tiny, and poorly lit. They still have old 1960's porcelain bathtubs with a flimsy shower curtains instead of proper showers. I've seen better amenities at a Holiday Inn! The floor in the room is covered in cheap imitation wood that creaks terribly when you (or the person in the room above you) walks on it. The restaurant tries to be hip, but is just weird with overpriced, mediocre food and bad service (for which a 20% service charge is automatically applied to your bill!). Everything is ridiculously overpriced (and you are charged for everything...even a teabag. Oh, and the 20% service charge applied to that to!). There is no way that this is a 4.5 star hotel - I'd give it 3 stars, at best.
