A charismatic plantation house from Borneo, lovingly restored with superb attention to detail by the visionary Hong Kong-based owners. One owner is a vintage furniture showroom founder and the other is an interiors architect - from your first glimpse, you will see their design influence.

The villa is made from ironwood among other natural materials and formed of two structures - a sleeping pavilion and an open plan living space in keeping with Balinese life. A saltwater pool with chequered tiles in blue and green ripples through the garden, flanked with a lush lawn and palm trees on one side. Swimming here feels like bliss - follow up with a refreshing alfresco shower.

There's a rooftop terrace perfect for hosting a barbecue and a veranda that elegantly wraps around the property. From here, enjoy the vast sweeping garden views as you watch Bali's famous sunsets from your vantage point.
The in-house chef is very highly regarded and can whip up a range of cuisines including Balinese, Western, barbecue and healthy options. There's also the option of cookery classes from him so you can learn the secrets of Balinese food! Alternatively, the guest kitchen is well equipped and even has a wine fridge!

A charismatic blend of retro Italian furniture, vintage collector's pieces and statement art make this an ideal holiday spot for creatives. The living room is just stunning, with retro colourful panelling and a plush red sofa for relaxing on. One of the most striking parts of the property is the enviable dining room with huge wooden chairs, intricate lace-like chairs and dramatic pendant lighting.

While the house incorporates lots of natural materials in keeping with Balinese tradition, the villa is equipped with cutting edge facilities. For example, the water filtration system means you can drink directly from the taps - a rare luxury in Bali!

Five gorgeous bedrooms sleep up to 16. 8 adults and 8 children can stay in the dedicated bunk bed room. Bedrooms are decked out in tonnes of fresh green combined with king size beds, crisp white linens and contemporary art on the walls. The lime green shutters really tie the decoration together. Each bedroom has a wall of wardrobes and a desk and is complete with ensuite bathrooms with smart granite twin sinks and circular mirrors.

There's a special spa area with its own sunken bathtub and koi pond, where guests can choose a variety of treatments and massages from internationally trained therapists.

The air-conditioned media room boasts velvet seating, a 60-inch satellite television, a DVD library and portable Marshall speaker, for when you need to cool down and reconnect. At night, the villa is illuminated in ambient mood lighting, to make the experience even more enchanting.

Location:

Villa 1880 is situated in picturesque Batu Belig just 5km from Seminyak's amenities and glittering nightlife. The area is quieter and a little more under the radar, with new patisseries and yoga studios popping up all the time. It's just a 10-minute drive from neighbouring Canggu, famous for emerald green rice paddies and fantastic surf scene.

A short stroll and you'll be on Batu Belig's bewitching black sand beach - known for being family-friendly and chilled out. If you get peckish, there's plenty of fresh seafood and delicious snacks on offer at the local warungs. While the waves are too strong for any serious swimming, grab a body board to ride the waves. You can watch kite flying here or if you're here in July or August, see Bali's annual traditional kite festival.

Finn's Recreation Club is very close to the villa and is bursting with activities for the whole family Boasting a water park with thrilling slides popular with kids and adults alike, a state of the art gym, blissful spa, vast tennis court and boxing arena, there's something for everyone here!

Be sure to take advantage of the quirky vintage VW combi to visit Bali's premiere upscale beach resort, Seminyak. A playground for jet-setters, fashionistas and yogis, it's definitely a place to see and be seen. Seminyak is full of fashionable boutiques where you can shop til you drop and fancy spas, where you can indulge in a quintessentially Balinese massage and spend the day getting pampered. Bali is the ideal place to try out yoga. There are stunning studios dotted all around Seminyak, so grab a mat and sign up for a taster course.

You'll find plenty of surf schools where you can get acquainted with the waves and learn from the professionals. From Seminyak beach, take a stroll across the golden sands all the way to Canggu or Petitenget beach. After the sun softens, hang out at one of the many alluring beach clubs for a panoramic sunset view over the Indian ocean.

Take a 30-minute drive to Pura Tanah Lot, a religious site perched atop a rock formation. It's believed that the temple here protects Bali from evil sea spirits. Pura Tanah Lot is amazing for a morning visit as it's quieter but it is also a popular spot for sunset. Soak up the experience of locals praying and admire the ocean turn to gold in the evening light.
