Cosy Maltese Townhouse, Roof Terrace and Views
This delightful one-bedroom house is situated in the uniquely fortified town of Senglea. A peninsula stretching out into the spectacular Grand Harbour, Senglea forms part of the Maltese âThree Citiesâ and along with Cospicua and Vittoriosa, it provides a captivating example of authentic Maltese heritage. With aged buildings dating back to the 16th century, narrow, alluring streets, imposing bastions and spectacular views of the Grand Harbour, Senglea has much to offer its inhabitants. Set across three floors, this house of character offers the opportunity to combine modernity with tradition. With a cellar, original garigor, spiral staircase and Maltese terrace, the property maintains many of its traditional features. Entering a welcome area, the spiralled limestone staircase leads to the first floor, which comprises a comfortable open-plan living/kitchen/dining area, with the second floor holding a contemporary double bedroom and shower room. At roof level, the superb positioning of this house of character is in full display. With magnificent views of the historically renowned Grand Harbour, the top-level of this property is ideal for entertaining guests on a long summerâs evening, maybe after a day of watching the infamous traditional Regatta race, strolling along the newly renovated Yacht Marina, or relaxing in the gardens at Gardjola. -- Please be advised that there are some ongoing construction works on a plot nearby and some disturbance to your stay is expected. ---
Arrival between 21:00 and 05:00 is subject to 35 late arrival fee.
We love the area and stay in Senglea every visit. This was the first time we stayed in this property. There were some good points and not so good points about the property. On the plus side, the view is amazing, the bed and living room sofa were very comfortable. But some things were not as expected when compared to many others we have rented. The dining furniture and the roof terrace table and chairs were uncomfortable and seemed very flimsy. The kitchen lacked many items we would consider basic (wooden spoons, eggcups, plenty of glassware of a decent size, an oven dish or two, cling film and tinfoil, some basic cleaning liquids, more than 2 tea towels, larger dinner plates, decent kitchen knives, etc). There was no washing machine liquid or capsules at all. The iron was the worst weâve encountered and spat out water all over our clothes. There was no welcome pack of any sort, and we have neverr experienced that as there is usually a minimum of some bottled water and maybe a local wine. There was no information pack about the house/appliance instructions/ local amenities etc. the TV is not a smart tv so you cannot get Netflix or similar. Itâs a shame as the house is cute but the basic nature of things did not sit well. We will always return to Malta but unfortunately not this rental.
Clean, comfortable place with beautiful views and location
Had a wonderful stay in Senglea at this property situated just steps away from Gnein Gardjola, a nice park on the tip of the peninsula with a lovely view of Valletta, Vittoriosa, the harbor and the Mediterranean. And the views from the rooftop terrace are even more panoramic. The place itself was very comfortable, with a full complement of kitchen and bathroom features and other amenities. Good heaters in the bedroom and main living room, you just need to run them for a while before the rooms really heat up, as the stone walls and marble floors are heat syncs (I stayed in Feburary, outside temperature ranged between 10-16C or 50-60F).
Senglea is a mostly residential area, somewhat sleepy compared to Valletta or especially Sliema and St.Julian which are busier and more commercial and tourist-y. It's about a 10 minute walk to the ferry to Valletta, and there are water front restaurants and some shops and bakeries on the way to the ferry in Cospicua, which is between Senglea and Vittoriosa.
HIghly recommend this place!
