Room 112 Mercure Sheffield Parkway The hotel seemed very quiet but it was in a part of Sheffield that I imagine would be occupied more during the week. The room allocated was directly in from of the lifts and next to the laundry room where the attendants went in and out with trolleys. There was a constant bang in the afternoon after I had arrived and unpacked. This did stop in the evening. The dining was limited and there was no room service menu on the app. In the bar/dining room I was told only limited main meals available and was told I couldn't pay cash at the bar! Once I got back to the room I opened the window. Just below the room was some kind of big heating unit or fans or something that was so loud and just kept going on and off all night. I like to have fresh air when I sleep whatever the weather. I can't believe in a hotel that wasn't busy that the first choice of room for a guest would be one near the lifts and also near the noise outside. I was only staying for 1 night. I had already unpacked my things so I decided it wasn't worth changing rooms and causing a fuss. But so wish I had once the noisy unit outside kept me awake all night. It was a shame because I was just trying out the hotel for future stays when I come up to visit my son's. Chose it for it's good location for me and also free parking is a bonus these days. Serviceable, clean, good parking. Terrible shower.

The hotel was just fine for what I needed. Clean and serviceable. My negatives are that the shower was terrible, it was literally a dribble. The fridge in room was useful but so noisy I had to turn it off to sleep and as far the eco pledge goes, I put my towel back on the radiator folded as they say they will only replace if it’s on the floor but they still gave me a brand new towel!

Cancelled 3 night stay the day before arrival.

On the day before our arrival at the Mercure, the hotel had contacted Hotels.com to say our booking was cancelled. Even although the booking was made 8 months before in November. I got a voicemail from Hotels.com, which I didn't pick up, at 6 a.m. the day we were due to go to the Mercure Sheffield Parkway they then phoned my mobile while I was driving so unable to answer. We did get the message about the cancellation around 11.30 a.m.and phoned the hotel.A very unhelpful lady answered, saying our booking had been cancelled and to contact Hotels.com . No apology, no reason given. My friend and I don't know the area and were on our way to a day at a flower show. We spent over an hour trying to contact hotels.com with no success mainly due to being without a signal where we were. It was sorted early evening after a heated discussion between myself and the hotels.com representative. The replacement hotel was good . Location, staff and comfort all very good. But the day had been very stressful .
