Good for few nights
We booked this hotel for ten days with my spouse to spend holidays in Singapore. Our standard room was quite small but clean and the bed was comfortable. Different TV channels are available in the room and there is also a WiFi access, but this one was rather slow. It is enough to check your mails for example. There is no table or desk in the room so it's not convenient to work. Concerning the noise, perhaps it depends on the room and the floor but it was very noisy on the morning, you always hear when people are discussing in the corridor. The 81 Osaka hotel is not too far from the Outram Park MRT station (less than 10 mn walk) so you can go to the city centre in less than half an hour. However, there is no restaurant in the hotel so no breakfast is available in the morning, you need to go outside if you want to eat something. I would say for few days it is OK if you just need a clean place to sleep and if you are not disturbed by the noise.

Hotel 81 Osaka in Tiong Bahru
A very basic hotel in a charming older neighborhood. Closer to transportation and restaurants and cafes. Don't miss a visit to the Monkey God Temple. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Recommendation: Search for another hotel! You will not get lucky or satisfied in this one. Hotel is close to a an Underground station from where you can go to the City that is really good. The hotel is really a basic hotel. Reception is really small and all the hotel is really old-school and the furnite not the newest one and also not in the best condition. The room is really shaby so it does not feel clean. The room is smelling bad and not healthy. In the bad there is a mildew (mold / mould) in the bad that is really unhealthy and discussing. The biggest problem was the not working shower. Even after 2. attempts to sort it out with the receptionist there where no change.So i had to book myself a new hotel to get a shower.

This is a no-frills hotel in a quiet suburban section of the city. The famous Tiong Bahru Market with the huge selection of eating vendors is just a 5 min walk. The area has become increasingly gentrified for the expatriate community. Besides local eateries there are quite a few cafes or bistros for this community. The premises is clean and relatively newly refurbished which is a plus point. However, there were no mini fridge or a closet like other Hotel 81, and the oft criticism of this chain hotel rooms being used by the hour for adult purposes was quite evident on this property. It is in at a dead-end street and is quiet and secluded.
