Avis pour Fully renovated village apartment close to local sights
Siorac was very centrally located for exploring the area by car. You couldn't go two (maybe five) miles without seeing a castle. Directions to the apartment were accurate and the lock box was easy to work, so check in was a snap. The apartment was spacious for a one-bedroom, especially the kitchen and bathroom. Parking was easily available on the street. The proximity of grocery shopping was excellent. Too bad the great local bakery in walking distance (!) was closed during our stay.
To me, however, it seemed that appearance took precedence over functionality in the design and outfitting of the apartment. To be specific, the sheepskin rugs and candles and framed quotations and uplifting thoughts make for great promos, but to a traveler it means more to have adequate storage and usable space. More specifically, the bedroom had no window, no drawers to put things in; the nightstands were cluttered with photos and framed sayings and the only provision for clothes was a small rack. The sink in the bathroom barely had space for a toothbrush. The shower was great, but there was no place to put soap or shampoo. The little container on the floor of the shower (and some of us cannot bend over so easily) held only the minimum, and when lifted up, you could see scum on the shower floor where it hadn't been cleaned. The kitchen left little room for supplies, and didn't even offer salt and pepper. The cooking utensils were adequate at best.
This all may seem harsh and overly critical. It is meant as a heads up to the owners that with a little attention to what's really important to travelers settling in it would be a wonderful place. Instead, for me at least, it was a wonderful location, but we would not choose this rental again due to the reasons cited above.
By the way, the primary photo in the listing is not of the apartment, and it should be.
