For the price paid and 5 star rating, staff is extremely inflexible with their arrangements.
- room cleaning is limited to up to 1pm and cannot be delayed further or changed if sight seeing plans change
- dinner and breakfast timings must be fix one day in advance in 30min intervals forcing you to stick to your plan and unable to relax on a whim. Ironic for a 5 star ryokan that wants you to relax and enjoy the facilities
- dinner is great but not worth the near US$800 price point. There are better ryokans out there that serve better food for half the price albeit at lesser portions (doesnât matter when you are full at dish 7/9 of their keiseki)
- default dinner menu is French and require top ups to Japanese Kaiseki or Teppanyaki. A bit of a downer consider the price paid
10/10. Love this hotel so much! Staffs are friendly and professional, food is delicious, architectural was perfect! Will definitely stay again when I visit to lake Toya!!
Physical facilities are excellent but I find soft skills of staff somewhat average, maybe because of labour shortage. Still, customers are paying a premium for an experience which is below expectations
A new property in the Lake Toya area, but away from the main streets. Wonderful architectural design though slight understaffed, with many of them not as properly trained as other hotels of this calibre in Japan. Lovely rooms and in-room onsen (select rooms).
