Elk - Hosted by The Chalets
A secluded wooded setting in Ohio's Hocking Hills, with views enjoyed from the wrap-around deck, the hot-tub or the wall of windows along the open-concept, vaulted, living area. The massive chimney is made of local river rocks. Queen bedroom on main floor and a queen bed in loft. (Loft is accessed by a rustic-styled ladder â which is fun for some of us, but not recommended for guests with physical limitations or for children.) Wood-burning fireplace and charcoal grill. Satellite tv and DVD player. But no Wi-Fi available at this location. Also, mobile-phone coverage is spotty â so use your carâs GPS. (There is a land-line phone.)
Perfect cozy cabin with all the necessities! A/C worked great, hot tub was perfect and we loved the location! Having a pool over at the chalets was a great touch too!
We arrived at night but the cabin was easy to find. The kitchen had everything we needed as far as utensils and cookware. We were within minutes of Ash Cave and Old Manâs cave. Even on a rainy day we enjoyed the hot tub and the cozy cabin feel with Pizza from Papa Dinoâs. Enjoyed a small cookout and bon fire. My only suggestion is to add more seating to the campfire area. We had a wonderful experience overall and will definitely be returning to Hocking Hills and The Chalets!
Great cabin, but a little bit further than I thought
The overall stay was great! Comfortable bed, great hot tub, super clean and nice cabin! The only thing that wasn't clear in the listing was that the main office was pretty far away from the actual cabin address, this made planning travel times between the trails and cabin beforehand not accurate. We got the actual cabin address the day of the stay, it would've been nice to have a better idea of the cabin location a day or two earlier for better planning. For example we thought Kroger was only three minutes from the cabin, but in reality it was three minutes from the main office and 20 minutes away from our cabin. It all worked out in the end though.
We really enjoyed our time at the Elk. It is a beautiful little cabin with everything you need. It has A/C, not mentioned in the description. The online pictures are accurate but being there in person is even better.
The cabin was cute and very convenient to the Hocking Hills attractions. We loved that it was very secluded and the "right size" for the three adults. The only thing that could be more clear is that nothing is supplied except the bare minimum. We had to go buy paper towels and coffee filters. Also, it may already be listed, but the coffee maker is not a Keurig. We had to go buy regular ground coffee.
We camped three years ago and this was a last minute trip. Super easy to book and the place was perfect for just the two of us. Close to trails. Plenty of towels and toilet paper. Hot tub was a nice addition.
Wonderful property set in the woods. Private, quite just what we were hoping for. Unavoidable issue with our cabin was met with incredibly quick response by staff and maintenance. Wonderful stay, wonderful staff.
We loved this cabin! We were impressed with how clean & new everything was! The upstairs bedroom loft with the view was awesome. We only left it to enjoy the hot tub, build a fire & check out the huge back deck. We plan to return in the spring when we can stay longer. We did appreciate how private the space was & yet youâre not secluded & we had phone service the whole weekend. Great getaway!
We checked in for our honeymoon, dropped our bags and left to get dinner for about an hour and came back. When unlocking the door we noticed a bug on the house which isnât unusual however it turned out to be a cockroach. Freaked out and disgusted we had to leave our wedding cake behind and find a hotel after vigorously checking our belongings. The host refused and still refuses to give us a refund due to the roach being on the outside of the building and not on the inside. He acknowledged it was a cockroach and implied he knew ahead of time about roaches. We made a case with the health department and have yet to see our refund; honeymoon cut short and a five hour drive home.
The cabin was perfect for our family of 4 to enjoy a long weekend of hiking. All the main trails are nearby. The secluded location made us feel like we were off the grid, but still had the necessary amenities to be comfortable. Weâd stay here again if we make it back to Hocking Hills.
Overall, great little place to stay. We decided in the future to go with something a little larger as we felt a little claustrophobic. Otherwise, the maintenance and cleanliness were perfect. Close to all the trails and getting that hiking experience!
