A beautiful renovated modern but homely cottage by St Andrews.
Braid Cottage was originally created from old farm buildings in the early 1980's. Sitting in a peaceful courtyard setting it has been renovated offering modern and up to date facilities including underfloor heating and wifi while retaining a homely and cosy environment. Only a few miles from the picturesque town of St Andrews it is surrounded by arable farmland, there is also access from St Andrews to coastal walking and beautiful beaches and of course golf. The property offers off road parking (not suitable for commercial work vans or lorries) open gardens and the closest village shop is only 0.5 miles away. On ground level Braid Cottage has an open plan kitchen and dining room with Fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, coffee machine etc. The dining room seats 8. A spacious sitting room with an open fire and television, a master bedroom with shower en suite. Upstairs a further 3 double bedrooms with zip and link beds, all beds can be made into double or twin beds. and a family bathroom with over bath shower. At the front of the cottage there is an area to sit and enjoy the pretty courtyard, there is also access to all the garden areas. Where possible I will be on site to greet guests on arrival and there is an information book detailing the operation of all the household appliances, information on local amenities and tourist information booklets.
Everything about our stay - from the peaceful location just outside of town, to the meticulously organized and expertly equipped cottage, was perfection. And Hilary, the incredible host, even had local eggs, homemade strawberry jam, bread and cookies waiting for us when we arrived. And wine. Brilliant!Hilary, her hospitality, and her exquisite home, were simply exemplary. Whenever we return, we will stay here. A true home away from home.

A Perfect Stay in St Andrews â Warm, Welcoming, and Unforgettable
Our stay at this charming cottage in St Andrews was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the loveliest host, Hilary, who instantly made us feel at home. She welcomed us with a warm smile, fresh-baked bread, and sweet treats that delighted the whole family â a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the rest of our stay.Hilaryâs hospitality was exceptional. Always just a text away for a speedy response. She went above and beyond, offering fantastic recommendations for local restaurants and activities, many of which became the highlights of our trip. But what truly touched us was how kind and attentive she was to our children â patient, friendly, and genuinely warm. They adored her! The cottage itself was spotless and beautifully maintained â a perfect blend of modern comfort and cozy charm. It was fully equipped with everything we could need, from a well-stocked kitchen (with coffee ready to go!) to all the little conveniences that make traveling easier. Every corner reflected Scottish culture, which added such a special, authentic touch to our stay.Whether youâre visiting St Andrews for the golf, the history, or the stunning coastal views, this cottage is the perfect home base. We left with full hearts and wonderful memories â we canât wait to return!
My husband, 3 friends, and I stayed for three nights in this beautiful cottage and it was truly a dream! Hilary, our host, was so communicative and kind, granting us an early check-in and late check-out, a warm welcome topped with homemade (by her!) jam, bread, shortbread, and tablet, and a bottle of wine and eggs from her farm. The cottage was perfectly clean, full of everything we could need, and was an easy 12 minute drive into downtown St Andrewâs. Hilary checked in on us midway to make sure we had everything we needed, too. Thank you so much Hilary!! Would definitely stay again and recommend to all travelers.

Just heading home from a long weekend at this beautiful cottage. We were visiting family nearby and wanted to have our own space and mini holiday. We couldnât have asked for anything more, lots of lovely personal touches and very much a home from home. Incredibly comfortable. We will be back! Thank you Hilary!!
From beginning to end a perfect holiday, the house has everything you could need, Hilary is a wonderful host, the welcome treats were a lovely kind surprise and communication was easy and friendly. We hope to come back again and would not hesitate to recommend.
Wonderful stay in st Andrews at the most charming cottage
House is even better than the pictures. So charming and spacious. Four big bedrooms, one with en suite bathroom.
You are 10 minutes from st Andrews old town and 10 mins from Cupar for grocery stores.
Note That checkout time is 10am (Hillary graciously extended till 11) but there is a lot to do for checkout, including stripping beds and taking out trash so give yourself time in case you have to be somewhere.
Hillary is a wonderful communicator and a gracious and generous host.
Kitchen has all you need to cook and relax. Will be back!
Driving up we knew Dron Court would be a special place, and stepping into Braid Cottage we felt immediately at home. Hilary was a phenomenal host and made sure we had everything we needed, while giving us all the privacy we wanted as well. The beds were extremely comfortable and we had lots of room to spread out. Itâs very convenient to St. Andrewâs and to nearby areas as well. If I could rate this higher I would.
One word⊠AMAZING! Braid Cottage is the perfect place to experience The Kingdom of Fife. It is a country location and feel on the main rode between Cuper and St. Andrews. It has all the amenities you need, including a lovely Nespresso coffee maker for us Yanks. Hilary is a lovely person, very responsive and attentive to every question and need. The cottage space is generous and decorated so cozy, you feel at home each time you return. đđđ
I cannot say enough good things about our stay, 4 couples on a visit to Scotland, golfing and sight seeing. It is real close to St Andrews, there is a farm store and restaurant just down the street, train station close for trips to Edinburgh or north. Hilary was great and took care of us. Fresh Bread, homemade jam, bottle of wine, eggs and coffee awaited us on arrival. We all had a great time, Thank you Hilary we all would definitely stay here again
We had a brilliant stay in Braid Cottage, the property was lovely, clean and very well equipped. Hilary was an excellent host, we could not have asked for better. We definitely hope to return in the future!
Your host Hilary is awesome, she welcomes you upon arrival, gives you a tour of the home and tells you everything you need to know about the area. She leaves you a welcome basket with eggs, milk, homemade bread, treats and wine. The cottage itself was impeccably decorated and very cozy at the same time. The property is a short drive to St. Andrews one way and Cupar the other way, which has a train station with a 1 hour ride into Edinburgh, so you get the both the small village stay and big city entertainment you want. We would definitely stay again.
We needed a spot to accommodate six adults and one kiddo for graduation at St Andrews. Braid Cottage was lovely!
The cottage is decorated beautifully and every little thing you could want has been thought of and provided. Hilary is an exemplary host and I can guarantee you will want to move in!
There's a lot of flexibility with the bedrooms (can be double beds or two singles) and there is plenty of room for everyone to spread out.
The cottage is about a 10-15 minute drive outside of the heart of StA. n This was not an issue for us, but consider what your plans are and know that parking in StA can be a challenge. We really liked getting away from things into the peace and quiet.
All in all, an absolutely fabulous stay. We're already dreaming about/planning our next visit!
We had a fabulous short break at Braid Cottage during October. Hilary was a great host, keeping in touch throughout our stay but not intruding at all. The cottage was very well equipped with everything we could need and more. The location to St Andrews and other local attractions was perfect. X
A group of us were in Scotland to celebrate golfing birthdays. A beautiful property, everything we needed.
A lovely spot to return to at the end of some busy days, Close enough to the golf and Some lovely local spots.
Hilary looked after so well.
Iâm sure weâll be back
This property is just so fun. From the moment you walk into the property, you can see the effort in all the details of this newly renovated cottage. Each room has its own unique tartan and matching accessories. It's a spacious house with comfortable furniture and bedding. The kitchen is so well-appointed, having everything a cook could want. It's a quick, easy drive into St.Andrews, yet the location is peaceful and quiet, with many walking trails right out the doorstep. A perfect location. We can't wait to return.
Cheers,
Georgia
