Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay. St. Johnâs is the capital and key port of the Caribbean island nation of Antigua and Barbuda. The city is home to the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda, with exhibits on indigenous tribes and life. St. Johnâs Cathedral, a 19th-century Anglican church, is on a hill near the 17th-century Government House. A monument to the nationâs founder, V.C. Bird, is next to the Public Market, which sells crafts and produce.
The cottage was almost on the beach - fabulous view, lovely beach. There is a large full service grocery store about 1 km away. You definitely need a car here. The property manager's communication was not great before we arrived, but once we had his WhatsApp contact it was very good. The A/C worked well and there were ceiling fans in every room. Also a separate facility with 2 washers and 2 dryers in very good shape. The showers are very small but otherwise work very well.
The pros:
Great location right on the beach on a quiet stretch of sand south about 1/2 mile from the Sandals complex.
Friendly owners
The not-so-great:
We stayed in the yellow cottage which was very clean but pretty beaten up on the inside. Cracked floor tiles in very old but again clean bathrooms.
The place needs a big refurb but right now everything works and is very functional. If you want a beachfront location and are not concerned about jet whirlpool tubs and Instagram pics of your accommodation then this property will be perfectly suitable. We wanted the location and quietness so were quite content. The property is called Paradise Villas and there are 4 colourful villas comprising the complex.
As three busy professionals siblings who travel often, but rarely together, it was very refreshing to have our accommodations actually exceed our expectations.
Out cottage was extremely spacious. The king beds and the bedrooms themselves were huge!! The livingroom, dining room, kitchen AND the large, covered patio were all very well appointed. BUT, the best part of all was the almost secluded turquoise beach, with its soft, golden sand and gentle "waves" that made barely a ripple as they come ashore...right there just a few feet away! We never tired of sitting on the patio and just enjoying that amazing view.
In real estate you will often hear the phrase LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Our Paradise Beach cottage is the epitome of that description, but lest we forget...our excellent hosts, Corrine and Marcano, who were attentive to our every need.
I could go on and on, but suffice to say, THIS is certainly our new home whenever we are again in Antigua.
Oh and if they ask you if you would prefer the cake or the rum punch...TAKE THE RUM PUNCH!!! YUMMMM!!! Thanks Corrine and see you soon!!!

The property is a wonderful holiday house close to the beach of Runaway Bay. This is a secluded bay near to the much more touristy Dickenson Bay. The four of us felt it was an ideal holiday house for the independent traveller. However it was not easy to find. Clearer directions would have been helpful including details of the roadside sign board describing the name as 'Paradise Beach Cottages'. We all felt the location was indeed 'Paradise'!
