The overall resort was nice and the restaurant on site was good with excellent service. The front desk and concierge staff as well as the shuttle staff were lovely. Unfortunately one of the facilities staff lectured me for walking through an area of the lobby she was mopping. I felt like my mom gave me hell. The room as good size and comfortable. They also had taxi service running on a steady rotation which was great! The biggest disappointment was the beach area was non existent. The resort should make restoration a top priority for the beach area. Overall a good stay at a safe, budget friendly location.

The room was set up very well for a 1 bed suite however the location was not convenient to getting to the pool area if you wanted to use. The shuttle service they offer is hit or miss. They recommend calling for a shuttle by dialing 0 but they never showed up on more than 2 occasions. The stench from the Sargassum was unbearable and the facility is not doing much to clear it. They post signs that doing so will disrupt the eco system however doing nothing at all will result in unhappy guests and potential guest who read these reviews to not book at their resort.

We did not enjoy our stay at Margaritaville in St. Thomas and left extremely disappointed. While we understand that sargassum is a natural occurrence, we were completely unprepared for the overwhelming foul smell that came with it. At no point prior to our stay were we warned about this odor, which was so strong and pungent that it made walking around the property almost impossible. We couldn’t even use our balcony, which was a major letdown. Although we don’t go on vacation to simply stay at a resort, we do expect to be able to relax and enjoy the property after a long day of exploring the island. Unfortunately, this was not possible here. Another major issue was the stairs. While we were aware that the resort had stairs, we did not realize it would mean climbing over 100 stairs just to reach our room—not including the trek if we wanted to go to the hilltop pool. We are a rather fit family and don’t generally mind stairs, but having to do this every single time—especially after long days out, or while carrying groceries and shopping bags—was absolutely brutal. The resort does offer golf cart shuttles, but they were few and far between, with long waits that made them impractical. Overall, the lack of communication about the sargassum smell, combined with the physical challenges of navigating the property, made this stay a huge disappointment. This was not the relaxing or enjoyable experience we expected.

The resort itself was super clean, the pools were fantastic, and staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The main issue was the beach. They advertise this beautiful beach at the resort, but it is small and it was closed because it was covered with seaweed. According to the locals we spoke with, it is always covered with seaweed due to the location. You have to travel everyday to a different beach to be able to enjoy the ocean. Also, the resort is in a sketchy part of town and we were told not to be out on the road in front of the resort after dark. Thankfully, it is a gaited resort, so we did feel safe inside the facility.

The smell of this resort is unbearable! The resort sent a text a couple weeks ago saying they had a abundance of sargassum. In no text did they say the smell of the entire resort was absolutely nauseating. I've been a nurse for 27 years and have smell every kind of rancid smell and this tops it all. There are about 800 workers milling around and no one is working on the cleanup. The Wyndham management should have an "all-hands-on -deck" approach to getting rid of the issue but the staff acts like its not even there. There is one restaurant near the beach and it smell reeks throughout making you too nauseated to eat. Secondly the 'Concierge" is loose with the language. When we called to ask any question the answer was "we don't know" not I'll find out, not suggestion to an issue. We asked for a casual restaurant recommendation the first night since we could eat the the smelly restaurant the concierge said "Sea Salt" we get thee and literally there's no entre under $550 and we weren't dressed appropriately. Thirdly the check-in process... after traveling all day we check in and the desk worker says we are checked in but have to go to an additional counter to get our key. We go to the other counter where we have to stand through a sell job on getting a timeshare at the resort! I just want my key.... I'm so tired, got to a smelly hotel and now this?!?!

If you enjoy hiking or are training for a marathon, this hotel might suit you. The rooms are located far from everything on the property (which isn’t much to begin with) and sit on top of a very steep hill. This is definitely not a good option for families with kids. The beach was extremely small and covered in sargassum, making it unusable for swimming, and the smell was overwhelming. The room itself was average, but the AC was disappointing—it never stayed consistently on, especially overnight, and wasn’t strong enough to keep the space cool. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel.

Seaweed was so bad the beach was closed. The seaweed smell was so bad we could not enjoy the restaurant or other activities on the property. Shuttles to other beaches were limited. TVs did not work during our stay (which would have been fine if we weren't hiding from the smell of the seaweed). We understand that seaweed is a part of nature, but there was no effort being made to clean it up - which we saw on other beaches and even had several taxi drivers comment on. Room was nice and all of the staff were very friendly. This place could be amazing if they were able to control the seaweed.

The property was beautiful. The room was clean and the staff were helpful and polite. However, the issue with the seaweed variety emitted an overwhelming smell that was very unpleasant and hindered the dining experience in the only full service restaurant on the property.

Everything was great except the smell from the sargassum (seaweed). No fault to the hotel but it made the lower pool unusable, no beach, and the nearby restaurant was even a bit difficult to enjoy.

They let us know beach was closed due to sogussum. Did not tell us about smell. But had a higher room so could not smell it from room. Just kept us from eating on site. Other wise a good trip.

completely dug out the entire beach trying to remove seaweed, creating mud and the most horrific smell ever. St Thomas island government is going to fine them and told them to stop touching the beach. It was sulfur smell on steroids, instant headache and every where in the property, I requested a refund that was denied, I even had a special team from Travelocity contact the manager of the resort. resort told me to bad dude. At the restaurant the burger in paradise tasted like a frozen patty from the discount store topped with sulfur. And top it off the stay, a fire alarm the was going off every 2 hours in our room. Again; resort doesn’t care and has no policy or common sense to do the right thing. I also wish they had to deal with my family who were sleep deprived and very angry and mean all day to me for booking this.
