Absolutely terrible place! Firstly they told to go to a different address than advertised, then when i arrived there was water pouring down from the ceiling in the reception room. No electricity for about an hour. I was a given just a single room when i paid for an ensuite. Then got told off for using the washing machine! Avoid this place at all costs
Will not be going back, poor cleanliness and smelled terrible. We did not get access to the front door after hours. I knocked the door for ages before I could be let in. Very old blankets.
Very bizarre set up. Set up as HMO rather than B&B.
No Tv. Your not allowed a front door key, so staff come to door when you leave and enter. Although staff are polite, quite alot of miscommunications. Room was not very clean. Shower was blocked and caused a flood. It is in a very bad area and quite noisy till gone 2am. Can hear staff downstairs loud tv till that time too. Very strong smells permeating building. Did use laundry facilities which was nice. Used as a basepoint to visit: Alton Towers,Alton Towers Waterpark and Trentham Estate. Close to Train Station. Close by to shops. I prefer proper B&B/ Hotel set up: Allowed to come as go as you please,tv, privacy. Staff aren't sitting in common area all day.
We stayed in a double room for the purposes of visiting Alton Towers. The location was perfect being about 40 minutes away.
The room was basic but clean and comfortable with a private shower and toilet. No tv but this was fine. Downstairs had a communal kitchen and seated area which was clean. I only used facilities to make a cup of tea. Joseph (manager) was welcoming, friendly and was always nearby to answer any questions. ÂŁ20 refundable deposit was required for the room key.
Fireworks went off first night which was annoying but no fault of the property. Free parking on one side of street which was ideal.
Walls were a bit thin so you could hear doors opening and closing so earplugs advisable. But overall ok for our needs - to lay our heads for a couple of nights.
Clean and comfortable accommodation. Very pleasant staff.
There were no facilities for breakfast at the accommodation or for making tea/coffee in the room.
My main concern was the lack of ability to come and go without having to make contact with the property manager by phone, with the possible roblem that they were using their phone and consequently couldn't respond promptly.
Wanted to leave for work at 5am but the door was locked and had to wait until 6am-bloody annoying. Smelt heavy of African cooking which is off putting. Also contact details do not work. Terrible place
The guest house is in a very run down part of stoke on Trent. There is free parking but most is permit holders and 1 hour parking. We had trouble finding somewhere to park all day . The room and ensuite is clean and good decoration. There is a lounge/ kitchen you can use . There is no TV or kettle in the room. Joseph the manager is very friendly and helpful. I would say this is ideal for a single traveller on a budget.
Points faibles : Service et personnel, confort de la chambre
Not good
Thecproperty wasnt what i expected. Lots of student lets on road & this was probably one too. Steep stairs to room, no ensuite, no tea coffee facilities. Communal kitchen which was nice but no cutlery, cups etc for weekend or short stays.
Occupants of room next to mine having loaud argument lots of swearing. Sam room along landing, occupants having loud discussion? This was afternoon so god knows what its like at night. Didnt stick around to find out. Didnt feel safe & because of all other issues decided to book into hotel. So have lost my payment i guess but so much more happy away from that place
