2/10 Terrible

Review of Maple Tree Inn, Sunnyvale, CA
I really wanted to like this hotel—it’s in a convenient location, and I had stayed here before. But unfortunately, my experience as a guest with a service animal was disappointing, and ultimately upsetting enough that I won’t be returning.
On two separate visits, I was questioned and confronted by staff for having my service animal with me in public areas of the hotel. These weren’t small misunderstandings—they were uncomfortable, drawn-out interactions that made me feel unwelcome and singled out. It’s especially disheartening because I gave the hotel a second chance, hoping the first incident had been an isolated case.
Service animals are protected under federal law, and a guest shouldn’t have to explain or defend their legal rights in order to enjoy their stay. While the hotel eventually refunded my stays, it took quite a bit of back-and-forth, and the emotional toll is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
If you’re traveling with a service animal or require accommodations covered under the ADA, I’d suggest finding a place where accessibility and respect are clearly understood and upheld
