The Whistle Stop is a unique, beautiful historical home in the middle of Dillsboro, N.C. This charming home boasts a rich history, having served both as a private residence and as a traditional bed & breakfast over the past century. Originally known as the Old Towne Inn in the early 1900s, it has welcomed guests for over 100 years with its timeless character and hospitality.

From the moment you set foot on this rustic, nostalgic property, you're embraced by a sense of history and timeless charm. Every corner of the home tells a story—crafted with exquisite details that evoke a deep sense of warmth, relaxation, and family. It’s a place where heritage meets comfort, offering a truly one-of-a-kind living experience.



Most recently, the home was lovingly operated as a full-service bed & breakfast by Larry and Gladys, with Gladys bringing her personal touch to the kitchen—crafting customized breakfast menus tailored to each guest’s preferences. Their hospitality created lasting memories for countless visitors. After a rewarding chapter, Larry and Gladys have chosen to retire, entrusting the continued care and guest experience to David through Vacay Valet. Under his stewardship, this historic home will continue to offer an unforgettable stay—just as it has for more than a century.



*A quick note about the layout: While this property was previously an inn, the bedrooms were previously rented individually and the bathroom design reflects that history. Each of the four bedrooms comes with its own full bathroom. Three bedrooms feature en-suite baths within the bedroom space, while the fourth bedroom’s full bathroom is located immediately outside its door, offering both privacy and convenience.

âœč The Conductor's Quarters: The Conductor's Quarters at Whistle Stop Inn, has all the luxurious trimmings for your mountain getaway. The room's bright but clean design mixes upscale elegance with train-travel flair. The focal point of the room is the vintage claw foot tub. Featuring 1 Queen bed, ensuite bathroom, and ROKU flat screen television.

PET RESTRICTIONS:



- The following rules apply to any Guest(s) who may have a pet(s) accompanying them on their stay. We are a pet friendly property and wish to continue to be able to provide this option to our Guests. STRICT COMPLIANCE with these rules is REQUIRED.



1. ALL PETS MUST BE LEASHED AT ALL TIMES WHILE OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE AND NOT ALLOWED TO WANDER FROM THE PROPERTY AT ANY TIME. This rule is both for the peaceful enjoyment of the property and for the adjoining property owners. In the event that a complaint is made relative to the behavior of your pet(s), whether it be wandering or creating a disturbance by excessive barking, it shall be the responsibility of the Guest to either promptly vacate the property for the remainder of the stay or place the pet(s) in a local boarding facility.



2. Guest is responsible for cleaning up any/all pet refuse/waste.



3. Pet(s) are not allowed on any furniture at any time. Any evidence of pet(s) on furniture may/will incur extra cleaning fees.



4. Pet(s) must not cause damage to premises or furnishings. If damages are caused, the cost of the damage may/will be deducted from the security deposit. To the extent that the security deposit is insufficient for damages attributed to the pet(s) or Guest, Guest shall be responsible for the additional expense, together with cost of collection, including attorney fees, if any.



5. Guest must prevent pet(s) from producing excessive noise at a level that disturbs neighbors.



6. Pet(s) will not be left unattended for an undue length of time, either indoors or outdoors. Pet(s) will not be left unattended on site, dock, patio, or porch.



7. Pet(s) shall be 30 lbs. or less (not to exceed 2 pets). Please submit request for Pet Approval to Host, David (property manager/Vacay Valet) by listing out breed, weight, and quantity when booking. Host David (property manager/Vacay Valet) will confirm acceptance of Guest’s pet(s) by corresponding with Guest.
