We arrived 1 1/12 hours early after a 6 drive and were told to wait until drapes were hung and host showered. Upon arrival to property we were routed through a filthy mud room. This place needs some major TLC and tree trimming. My elderly mother was unable to view the property due the main areas being on the second floor. The stairs are very steep for an 83 year old woman. We stayed on the ground floor with no dining room access. We had to eat in our room on tv trays with no view outside. Terrible for my mother's first BNB experience and we also had to shower in another room due to unsafe bathtub. There was no mention of second floor dining and no ADA accessible for dining room or bathroom.
I booked 2 nights at the Millhouse Inn for my sonâs graduation because there was nowhere to stay in Tallahassee. Having stayed at dozens of historic inns and bnbs over the years, I thought this would be similar. The photos look charming and the upstairs (original portion of the house) is lovely. We stayed in a downstairs room that was damp, musty, smelled like termites and mold. I could barely breathe much less sleep. Upstairs had central ac, but downstairs had an old wall unit that did not extract any dampness from the air and there were no windows to open. We were charged over $800 for our stay in a place that was barely inhabitable. I understand supply and demand and that places need to charge as much as possible during popular events, but also think people should be made aware of the condition of a place before they book and the only way to do that is through a review like this one. I would have gladly spent much more per night to stay somewhere decent for this occasion. Buyers bewareâŠ
Our host, Bek, was wonderful. She gave us a very interesting history of the home and Quincy. She prepared a lovely breakfast for us in the morning to complete our relaxing stay at the Millhouse Inn.
Our stay at Allison House was delightful. The historic house is charming and quirky. The area is full of history. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and well appointed. Our host was attentive and informative. Great visit and hope to return soon.
Very quaint, quiet, and a unique experience. Iâd stay there again and recommend it to my friends and family. The hostess was very friendly and the breakfast was great.
We were able to snag the only room with two beds since I came with my son. We were on the first floor. Expedia will need to update the name of the bed&breakfast to the Millhouse Inn.
Bek is a wonderful host and makes delicious meals for breakfast. Our room & bed (Wicker Room) was very comfortable / clean. Wish we'd have been able to spend more time on the property but our plans did not allow for this.
