Welcome to the true feel of 'Old Taos' in the 100 year old 'Historic' private airconditioned compound of 'Blue Elk Casa'. In the owner's words she tells us why this home may be just the one you are searching for to enjoy your valuable vacation time:

'In our mini-hacienda you are one block from the down town central plaza with all the wonderful food, art, shopping and museums you could wish for. At the same time your home base is nestled in a totally contained private home that has been hand-painted and crafted with love and which just 'feels good' to be in. We also offer to those family or friends traveling or celebrating together the choice of staying close but of having separate complete spaces when the need or desire arises. The second story unit (Blue Elk Up) has its own private entrance, private open deck, kitchenette, large living room and full bathroom with tub/shower combo. Blue Elk Down has two master bedrooms one with tub/shower combo & the other with walk in shower only. Both units have large enough living rooms for the entire group to gather for meals and visiting. This unique Up and Down separation is ideal for members needing quiet get-away time and space from the hustle and bustle of group activity. Please note these units do not have an interior flight of stairs connecting one to the other. From the downstairs patio you walk up an exterior flight of stairs to the upper unit.

In the afternoon and evening you are footsteps away from some of the locals favorite restaurants and cafe's. At 'Blue Elk Casa' you will be staying in one of the most authentic historic Taos vacation rentals offered in Taos, New Mexico. Come and experience true Southwest charm and architecture with adobe walls, viga ceilings, kiva fireplaces, bancos and nichos! Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The rental was fantastic, it had more than enough room for our ski trip. All amenities were covered, Cherry was immediately responsive to any questions and the location was perfect – walking distance to all the Taos shops and restaurants. This is a beautiful property! The pictures don't do it justice. It is so charming and a wonderful reflection on Taos and New Mexico. But the pictures also don't show the flow between the 2 spaces. We rented the whole space for our family and expected a way to move between the spaces but you have to go outside. Just be aware if you are renting it all but still worth it!

Very nice property, comfortable rooms and clean. Had a few minor housekeeping issues but the property manager was responsive. We really enjoyed our stay. The location is great, within walking distance of the plaza. With the upper and lower units together there is plenty of space for a large group. The enclosed patio is nice, very private, and the hot tub is a bonus. It is a 4 person tub, the photos don’t show it. Both units are nicely decorated and the fireplaces are cozy.

We had come here for the Wine Festival and the location was perfectly positioned close to shops and restaurants!! Lots of good food and shopping. We want to come back in the summer and enjoy all the outdoor activities 🤩

TAOS Family Getaway

We all flew in for a long weekend get together. Some skied, some went to galleries and shopped. Restaurants in the area were excellent from Tex-Mex, to fine dining to brew pub pizza. We all enjoyed being together at the Blue Elk Casa. Star gazing was really good from the upstairs outdoors patio.

Lovely property, great location and wonderful support!

Four friends stayed in the two apartments and we really enjoyed our week. The location was close to the town centre but also very quiet. The caretaker was very responsive with all of our questions. Would recommend this house!

Fun Taos Visit

Our family rented the upstairs and downstairs property which worked very well for us. We loved the location. We were able to walk to shopping, restaurants, and music. The host was very friendly and helpful while we were there. The property has all of the uniqueness of Taos architecture and ambiance which we very much enjoyed.

Location was great and Unit A was nice and cozy. Should note that no a/c in bedrooms, just in living room but stayed pretty cool at night. Unit B is upstairs and not so great for older users. Shared bathroom upstairs but nice living room . Lower patio is cute. No problem finding street parking.

Beautiful Taos Plaza Vacation Rental

We had a wonderful time at the Blue Elk Casa! Our group consisted of five adults, four kids, one baby, and one small dog, and the multi-level units made it easy to be together while still allowing space for everyone. As a multi-generational group, we very much appreciated the well-stocked kitchen, accessible extra towels and bedding, and closeness to the Plaza. We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to book again for our next Taos getaway!

The unit was beautifully decorated and very clean and comfortable inside. The outdoor areas not so much and the windows were all cloudy. The upstairs unit smelled like gas and we discovered a valve on the fireplace was left on a tiny bit. When we opened a window to air out the unit the window fell apart.

Wonderful, perfect stay

We loved every single thing about this property, from the location, to the little outdoor patio, to the hot tub, to the beautifully decorated interior. Two sweet casitas with everything. You could need and all kinds of extra amenities, like soft blankets and great art. The property manager was repsonaive and kind.

This was a perfect place to stay for our girls trip. Location was great and the home was so perfect. The only problem we had was unlocking and locking the doors. Perhaps they could change the door locks to make it easier.
