The shower was extremely small, you couldn’t stand in it without touching the walls or the shower curtain. It was a shower-over-bath setup, and the bath itself was smaller than standard and not even wide enough for an adult’s feet to stand comfortably in. The room felt rough and poorly maintained, with chipped paint and marks all over the walls. The towels had random blonde hairs on them, and the duvet had a visible stain. The hallway leading to the room was so narrow you couldn’t walk down it while carrying a bag beside you. During our stay the TV stopped working, and the milk supplied was left out on the desk instead of being refrigerated, which was particularly concerning as we stayed during a heatwave. Overall, the room was far smaller than it appeared in the photos. Unless you are very small in stature, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Photos are definitely misleading.

Rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. If noise bothers you, I would request an upstairs room as we could hear people moving above us all night. Staff were friendly, restaurant and bar were great for a drink and meal.

We stayed in the basic room. It was very small but adequate. The room was clean, the bed was firm and the walls are nit sound proofed in any way. Having stayed in many similar hotels in Taupo, the standard of the Lakefront is comparable with them. It was great to be relatively close to town.

I will never stay here again. Firstly, the communication was awful. I was told they were closing 3p on Christmas Day and I said I’d be there. But I kept getting called, messaged or emailed to the point of harassment. I explained I’m not using my phone outside when I have wifi as it costs me $5 per day. I explained where I was leaving from and how long the drive was and even got replies. But was still called while I was driving and 100km away and told they were closing at 3p. The room was so tiny I had to climb over the bed to make a cup of tea, there was nowhere for my small suitcase, no fridge to cool my food I’d bought because it was Christmas Day. Access to a fridge should be mandatory. Then they take my credit card for security when there is nothing in the room to steal or break. The pool was closed or broken. There is no bin in the common outside area where you are forced to eat as there is no room in the room. So, bad room, staff, amenities and more. I paid only $11 more for a lovely airport hotel in Auckland the night I arrived. Everything was cheap, mean and small here down to the toiletries. It was less than a private room in a youth hostel. You can find better.
Shocking. Where they have clothes hangers is above the coffee and tea? Better to make this a single room, charge less and give the guests a fridge. Clearly, they do not care for their guests.

Not enough parking, had to park down street. Staff unpleasant, mattress dirty,...noisy: heard every footstep from the room above. Poor quality hotel. Better for backpackers who don't care but it is not at a backpacker price.
