The Space:
This home features four beautiful bedrooms, a guest house, a resort-style backyard, and a chic bohemian look with textured white walls and unique “zen” design features that create a laid-back vibe for a relaxing vacation in Costa Rica.
Guests at Casa Estrella will be greeted by an arched entryway featuring a stylish chandelier and floating steps, flanked by natural stone walls with a waterfall feature on each side, which sets the mood for a laid-back retreat. This hallway leads to a spacious, open-concept floor plan that features a living room, kitchen, and tall windows offering a picturesque view of the property’s lush outdoor oasis.
The living room showcases a stylish blue sofa with colorful throw pillows, a flat-screen TV, and a coffee table and floating shelves made from natural wood. The well-lit kitchen is a chef’s dream, featuring high-end granite and marble countertops, open shelving, and cabinets crafted from teak wood, alongside pristine stainless steel appliances, including an oven, gas stove, large refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, and a farmhouse sink. The space also features an oversized teak wood island that doubles as a breakfast bar, situated under stylish two rattan light fixtures.
The main home includes three bedrooms. The master bedroom features a king-sized bed and a sliding glass door that leads directly to the swimming pool. This room also features a flat-screen TV and an ensuite bathroom with a double-sink vanity, walk-in shower, and chic design. The two guest bedrooms can be accessed through the turquoise doors on either side of the main home’s entryway, and each features a queen-sized bed, a flat-screen TV, a small sitting area, and a wooden writing desk and chair.
The private two-story guesthouse can be accessed through a door located in the backyard's barbecue area. The guesthouse features a chic living room with a retro-style, powder-blue couch and a flat-screen TV, as well as a fully equipped kitchen with a wooden breakfast bar and high-end stainless steel appliances. The open-concept living space offers access to the backyard and swimming pool.
The guesthouse bedroom features a king-sized bed and a luxury ensuite bathroom with a double-sink vanity, bathtub, and walk-in shower equipped with a rainfall showerhead. This bedroom also includes an office space, a walk-in closet, and a washer and dryer.
The highlight of this property is the stunning resort-style backyard oasis, which features a sparkling swimming pool with a gorgeous natural stone waterfall feature and pool lounge chairs surrounded by lush, tropical plants and greenery. Next to the pool is a tiki-style wooden cabana with rattan light fixtures and a custom wood table and benches underneath, perfect for alfresco dining for up to eight guests. The backyard also features a covered outdoor kitchen, complete with a stainless steel BBQ grill, high-end stone countertops, and a wooden bar with a flat-screen TV. The yard also includes an outdoor shower.
Pet-friendly policy
We welcome your furry friends at our property! Before you book, each pet must be verified and approved based on breed and size (max 35 lbs.), accompanied by a recent photo. A refundable pet fee of $200 per stay, along with an additional cleaning fee of $50 + 13% per pet, is required to ensure our home remains pristine for all guests. We allow up to two pets per reservation. Pets must be kept on a leash at all times in public areas within the property grounds. Certain properties and complexes may have specific rules and registration requirements. Pets need to be verified at least 24 hours prior to check-in. If guests arrive at check-in with unverified pets, access to the property will be denied.

The Neighborhood:
Playa Potrero
Offering easy access to three beaches (Potrero, Penca and Prieta), this town combines upscale lodging options with the charm of a traditional Costa Rican town (think central plaza with church, school and soccer field).
There are plenty of restaurants, shops and other conveniences, and the downtown area has two mini supers (convenience stores), as well as a commercial plaza with a coffee shop, a hairdresser and other businesses.
Some of the liveliest nightlife in the region can be found at Las Brisas Bar, right on the beach, though it’s normally hopping only on Wednesdays (Ladies’ Night).
Potrero has several nice housing developments with “Villagio” in the name, popular among Italians and other expats. You can find Italian gelato shops, Costa Rican sodas (small, affordable restaurants) and hotels in a range of prices (Pitaya Lodge, Bahía La Esmeralda, Hotel Isolina, Bahía del Sol).
Just to the south of Potrero lie all the attractions of Surfside, and to the north is a beautiful, hilly drive along the ocean, ending at the Mediterranean-style village of Las Catalinas. Potrero is within easy striking distance of several beaches, and it’s a great base to explore the entire region — for a sampler of both the high-end and the humble.

Very spacious house with an apartment. The pool was great to have to play with our kids and to cool down. It had everything we needed during our 6 day stay. The property is walking distance to the town of Potrero and beach. We found many great restaurants nearby. When we return to Costa Rica, we will be looking to stay here again.
