The room was so small, but the heating and water pipes were burning hot, which made our room like a sauna. We made the reception aware before we went to evening meal with friends, but were told that they did not have another room available and that it should cool down. However, the heat stayed so hot in the room and was very uncomfortable. On arrival at reception in the hotel around 1430, we explained we had parked our car in a parking space at the front of the hotel, the receptionist just said ‘you will have a parking ticket by now’! She did highlight there is a car park at the back of the hotel and directions, but she carried on talking to explain how to get to our room etc, meanwhile my wife went outside to make sure we didn’t get a parking ticket! I found all the staff were unhelpful and not willing to help.

Room excellent, clean and tidy. Breakfast this morning a bit disorganised, had to ask for coffee 3 times and toaster and bread removed before we had finished. Quality of the good though was very good.

Lovely stay

The room was clean and well stocked, beautifully decorated and comfortable. However, it was very small. We had a bath in the bathroom which was lovely and the bathroom itself was sufficiently spacious.

The location in Thirsk was good for exploring Herriot life. Proprietors were helpful and very kind. The sink was very plugged. You have to carry suitcases up many stairs, depending on your floor

Rooms were small but very well furnished and good value for money, very clean and the bed was comfy. Hotel is in a great location, especially for the races. Staff were very friendly. There was no receptionist on our arrival, a note advised us to see the bar staff, but they were extremely busy, so this wasn't ideal.
