Charming Upstairs Suite in Historic Grandview Woodland

Stay in an inviting & comfortable upstairs suite in a 1923 Craftsman bungalow, in one of Vancouver's oldest neighbourhoods, Grandview Woodland; with charming, eminently walkable, safe and heritage filled streets. Only a short walk away from well known Commercial Drive with over a hundred restaurants to choose from, many unique stores to shop in and a strong alternative vibe providing a lively and diverse streetscape. Some of the best food shopping is here with offerings of specialty organic shops, Italian, Greek and Mediterranean food stores, many wonderful coffee shops and specialty bakeries, cheeses and more. In keeping with the food theme, the area has clustered within it some wonderful craft breweries, a craft distillery, as well as the East Vancouver Cultural Centre (the Cultch) and The York theatres, providing live theatre for evening entertainment and both within a 2 minute walk.

The suite itself is self-contained, with its own entrance at the rear of the house and above the main living area of the house. It has a bedroom with a double bed, (new firm mattress), a complete kitchen, bathroom with shower (no tub), dining and seating areas. Your rental includes free wi-fi and provides local travel instructions (transit, etc.) and a lovely garden in which you are welcome to enjoy your morning coffee or evening glass of wine. Your friendly host is happy to be as available or distant as the guests prefer. There is also lots of free parking on the street!

Given recent Covid-19 concerns, I am pleased to advise that all hard surfaces are disinfected between guests and hand sanitizer as well as anti-bacterial wipes are available for guest use.

Die Lage der Wohnung ist ideal um Vancouver zu erkunden. Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel nur wenige Schritte entfernt. In der Umgebung verschiedenste Restsurants, Pubs oder auch FrĂŒhstĂŒcksoptionen.Leider ist mehr Verkehr in der Straße als erwartet, richtig ruhig ist es nicht. Das Bett war auch etwas klein.Der Garten rund um das Haus ist ein Traum und lĂ€d dazu ein im Schatten zu sitzen und zu lesen.

The perfect space for a solo traveller. Very clean and the kitchenette is perfect for prepping small meals. There’s no shortage of spots to eat down Commercial Drive. The neighborhood is quiet and cozy. Will definitely stay here again next time I visit Vancouver.

Great location and nice house

Dorothy was there to greet us and she made us feel right at home. The house was very clean and she provided all the basics (like tea, sugar, etc) so we didn’t have to purchase a bunch of stuff. Loved the location. It is just around the corner from Commercial Drive, which has lots of restaurants and shopping. About a one mile walk to the public transportation. Loved the house and the backyard is lush and beautiful. Dorothy has a gazebo there and told us we were free to use it. I highly recommend this VRBO. There are stairs outside as well as a flight to ascend inside the house.

Owner welcomed us on arrival. The accommodation was comfortable and well equipped. We were given exclusive use of the garden for relaxing and dining. The location was close to restaurants and bars. The owner was very friendly and recommended a number of places and activites which we undertook. Thoroughly recommended.

Better than a hotel

We prefer a Verbo over a hotel for many reasons, including there is a kitchen giving you the option to eat in, it is more private and you get a better sense of the city when you stay in a regular neighborhood. This property was super close to local transportation and the commercial drive, which has tons of restaurants and bars. It’s located in a great neighborhood conducive for walking to enjoy all the beautiful flowers and homes. The accommodations were clean and comfortable and Dorothy is a great host. She’s ready to help with anything you might need. Would definitely stay there again.

Cute place near the city centre

We arrived at the property a little later than we have mentioned to Dorothy, she was very sweet and stayed up and waited for us to ensure we find the entrance and that we are able to access the property (11PM). The house is 100 years old this year and is really cute with a luscious back yard which is really pretty to look at. The place was clean, no issues with cleanliness. The property is close to the city centre by car and has a lot of good restaurants nearby if you don’t want to go so far. We always found parking on the street where the house it. Overall, we recommend Dorothy’s cute upstairs loft area if you are visiting Vancouver. Thanks again!

Dorothy, was a wonderful host. her property was more than beautiful, garden sitting area, and right from our room she has a patio with umbrella to enjoy a wine or a cocktail. The room was immaculately clean she had everything you could possibly need. stove, refrigerator, oven, toaster, rice cooker, microwave,& hairdryer The loft was very large and very comfortable. The loft also has a reading/library room, Great location!! Commercial drive 2 blocks from her place 80 restaurants/shops. 13 miles from airport, 4 miles from Cruise Line. Very charming!

We loved this property! Dorothy was very friendly and responsive to requests and questions and the space was as described. The yard is full of beautiful plants and flowers (we were there in August). It felt like we were in a fairy garden. Location is close to many restaurants and stores with parking in front of the house. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Vancouver.

Great location for restaurants and transport into Downtown. Lovely yard to enjoy and Ozzie, her dog, is a bonus. Dorothy was great to sit and chat with after a long day out and about. Only downside is the bed is a double and we thought it was a Queen. It was cosy 🙄

East Vancouver attic flat

We had a wonderful time staying in this attic flat. It was easy to find with a separate entrance. It was clean and well organized. The owner installed an air conditioner just before we arrived which made a huge difference in the flat as it was a really hot week in the summer when we stayed. Parking was on the street but there was always a spot close to the flat available. The owner's beautiful gardens in the rear of the property were a welcome, very private place to relax. Communications with the owner were very easy and regular which helped with any questions we had.

Nice find in Vancouver

Dorothy's house is conveniently located just off of Commercial Drive, on a tree lined residential street. The upstairs one-bedroom space was well-appointed with lots a seating, a kitchen with everything you'd need to cook (but with all the nearby restaurant options, I'm not sure why you would) and, thankfully, an air conditioner and fans. The bed was a bit too soft for us, but that's a personal preference. We didn't have a car, and rode the Sky Train into downtown Vancouver each day. It was an easy 15 walk to the station down Commercial Drive or through the neighborhood streets to check out the beautiful homes and gardens. If we were too tired, we caught the bus at the station that stops a block from the house. Dorothy was a fantastic host, welcoming, friendly, and respectful of our privacy. Overall great experience. We would stay here again.

Vancouver Garden Paradise

We enjoyed our stay at this property, garden was beautiful to relax in after a day of activities. Within walking distance to everything you need and more. Would definitely come back when we are in Vancouver.
