The motel is what you would expect for 90$ a night. The room was dirty and run down and the pool was also very dirty/ messy around the pool. The bed linens and towels were stained/ not cleaned. We had to strategically plan coming to and leaving from the motel as there was a line up of sketchy looking people buying drugs out of the room below us. The location of the motel is convenient as you’re right in town but there was a large amount of homeless people around the motel. The woman who helped us for part of the check out was nice but the man who checked us in and finished our check out seemed mad to have to do his job. Room also was not serviced or cleaning during our 3 night stay. Overall it wasn’t great but it was cheep and we enjoyed being a 15 minute bike ride from the beach and close to restaurants.

The pictures on the website are incredibly misleading to swimming pool was completely unusable. Every single amenity in the room was unusable. For example, the hair dryer in the bathroom,the ironing board, the TV. Honestly I would say the nail in the coffin would have been the bag of crystal meth for lack of any more education that we found in the nightstand drawer on the day we checked out. All in all my suggestion, no matter how inexpensive the stay would be to find somewhere else.

I made a reservation through Expedia at the Schell Motel on July 19 2025 for July 26 - Aug 1. My credit card was charged $503.59 on July 20. On July 21 Schell sent me an email via Expedia that they were cancelling my reservation due to overbooking. I called the hotel trying different dates but none were available so I requested a refund. The motel manager told me it would take 7 - 10 business days to refund my money. It has been more than 10 days and I do not have a refund.

It's a old building with limited facilities however the location is good. Rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable..There was no exhaust fan in the washroom. Also the shower was not properly functional.

Don’t ruin your trip

We’ve been to this motel before and loved it. But management must have changed. I go to the hotel and first the person at the front desk treated us like we were an annoyance and interruption to their day. Then they give us a room that was away from the rest of the rooms stuck in a corner of a back alley that was so dirty, smelly and not inviting to the point where I questioned my safety. The pool area was terrible! The hot tub didn’t work, the pool was dirty. Beer cans laying everywhere, chairs and tables look like they haven’t ever been wiped and I’m not usually a complainer. I felt so unsafe I declined the room and asked for a refund. What a way to spend my time not just trying to get my money back but then trying to find another place to stay. I should at least get a refund for the second day cause it was 24 hours notice. Do not stay here. It will ruin your holiday. Hotels.com I’m waiting for my refund. Apparently the hotel said you were responsible for that part. If that’s not the case you should not endorse the hotel.

The place looks good when you pull in but it’s a bit sketchy when you look closer,, long term low income tenants live there too, some ok ppl, but some make you remember to lock everything up in the parking lot. They had a pool…it was pretty uncared for and dirty, we actually cleaned it up a bit before going for a swim. Area is within walking distance of lots of things. It’s not a horrible place, but it’s not a great place either. Middle of the road verging on dicey

There's lots of homeless in amd out of one room in particular. Rooms are old and dirty. Didnt feel safe with my children at all. The front staff you cant even hear when he speaks. Overall experience was terrible.

The room was so dirty, I don’t think it had been cleaned for quite sometime- no screens on windows, bathroom was absolutely filthy- dirty towels, bugs in bathtub, sink on the bedding. We actually didn’t stay the night- checked out around 9 pm. There was drug dealing going on and scary characters around!! Will never stay there again!!

this property is horrible the pool is dirty the room wasnt properly cleaned there were bed bugs throughout the room the manager is an ignorant jerk whom cant be bothered to assist you with requests the beds have mattress covers to hide the fact that there covered in bed bugs and when approached to address the concern about the bed bugs he denied it siad we qere lying and refused to reimburse us he didnt return our damage deposit necause he claims we trashed his room when all we did was lift the mattresses to verify that a beed bug is what we seen and go figure it was infested with bed bugs i have a short video of them and pictures we put in a bottle now im forced to discard all of my belongings because thats the only way to het ride of them and have to go purchase new cloths because im completely discusted

dislike personal living quarters being part of office; messy and disorganized behind the desk the property is very obviously aged, so it is difficult to maintain cleanliness (which wasn't badly done) we managed to cool our bed space area by closing the kitchen door and having the air conditioner on all night no one available at checkout next day (until 10a) no phone number on the receipt PLUS expedia receipt and hotel receipt are not same

This was the worst hotel experience I've had. There were bugs in the room. The bathroom was filthy and had mold in the shower. The manager was not helpful and walked around with food stains on his shirt. When I asked him questions I couldn't understand a word he said. I would never recommend this hotel.
