Highly disappointed and we had to purchase damage insurance
The neighborhood and grounds were beautiful. The setting along the river was sublime. We were greeted by the owner and met the housekeeper who helped us immediately with soap etc for the unit. All was promising until we went to the unit. While I understand these are very old cottages, the cottages have NOT been maintained to a habitable condition. We stayed only because we had no where else to go. Upon entry I noticed musty old mold smell. Then I saw the dirty furniture with rips in the upholstery. The floor had large lumps in it as if the earth below was pushing through the flooring. This poses a safety concern for people who may have balance issues. There were no electrical outlets in the bathroom. The shower was corrugated material. For me the most insulting thing was I was required to purchase additional damage insurance. Honestly, there is no way a person could cause damage to this non-inhabitable property. In total we spent close to 600 for this nightmare.
Great stay. Very quaint accomodations. Hosts were very helpful.
Somewhat basic decor but kitchen, bath and bed were all more than adequate. Very close to wonderful choice of beaches. Lots of fishing opportunities. We enjoyed the stay and are planning a return trip.
The place was dingy and smelled of old rotting wood. I have asthma and couldn't stay. I had rented for 33 days and paid over $5,000. Even though the owner said she had a waiting list and would refund the difference when she rented it I never heard from her again.
Property was a duplex with a shared screened porch not a single unit. However other side was not rented. Kayaks were filthy and unusable no seats and no handles. We had to rent from Lisaâs Kayaks. They were great. Bed was comfortable. Ice machine was good. Dock was nice. Screens on porch were torn. The entire unit was not level.
It's a 1940's cottage that's been upgraded. It was quite comfortable. There could be a little more attention to detail with the tidiness of the floors.
Overall it was a nice stay, but it's not a five star resort.
Place needs a thorough cleaning . Reno vations should have included floors and bathroom. Tub old and stained. Cover over side drain didn't close completely and was open to outside. Had to stuff a rag in it to keep unwanted critters out. Water coming out of tap in tub ran black for first few minutes. Window s, screens were filthy
