Sunsets and a Sweeping View of Wheatfields!
Newly remodeled home featuring 3 bedrooms, (King, Queen and Twin beds) 2 full baths, kitchen, Living room/fireplace, and downstairs recreation room containing pool table, darts and TV. Lots of parking, minutes from downtown, and nothing across the street but a view you can enjoy from the 500 sq/ft of patios and decks! Please no smoking. Very quiet neighborhood except during a few certain summer weekends when the nearby drag strip has an event.
Comfortably home. A bit dated but very nice & roomy. Comfortable beds. Great view and seating areas on the front porch & yard.Only met Jim the host briefly but he was very pleasant.Went to the Fort Walla Walla museum & it was great!!
We stayed at this property for our daughter's graduation from WWU in June of 2025. Jim was an incredible host. He was quick to reply to my messages prior to booking and before arriving. He had the house all set up for us, with lights and AC on. When we couldn't find the wifi network, we texted Jim and he came over as soon as he could to get us set up. Everything was clean and ready for our family weekend away. The AC kept the house cool. We loved the pool table downstairs and played so many games together as a family and then with friends when they came over Saturday evening. The outdoor patio areas out front are wonderful. A beautiful wheat field and the airfield across the street. Beautiful sunset views. Patio lights and a fountain are on a timer and let us enjoy our evenings outside. Two full bathrooms were perfect so we could all get ready for both the pinning ceremony and graduation, which starts at 8:30 am. That means the guys headed out at 6 am to save seats. The downstairs bathroom allowed them to get ready while the ladies used the upstairs bathroom.Jim let us check out late, which was so helpful. We didn't have to rush to pack everything up before we left for graduation at 7:00 am. We enjoyed a beautiful sunny morning at WWU and then came back to the house to change and head out for lunch. Then back to pack up and play a few rounds of pool before heading back to Oregon. We will definitely stay at Jim's if we're ever in Walla Walla again.
Overall this place was great for our weekend stay to visit friends. We are a family of four with an infant and toddler and the house very much felt like a visit to grandparents AND like how old Vrbo felt â like you were staying in someoneâs house, not a sterile new condo that was bought to do short term rentals. If you need that, this is not for you. If you prefer a funky and cozy vibe, this is for you! The owner clearly cares a great deal and has extensively labeled things including the idiosyncratic ways you might blow a fuse (old house) and control the temperature. This was great! More details below.
Pros
- Super quiet, dead end street - ideal for our 3 year old who rode his bike back and forth every day.
- Nice outdoor seating out front
- Very flexible with check in and check out times (with baby nap schedule this was hugely appreciated!)
- Really lovely view as pictured
- Pool table! Dart board! Lots of games and a fun mid century modern speaker system!
- Three bedrooms with different bed sizes, ideal for a family.
Less ideal:
-Could use a deep clean - a bit dusty/cobwebby in places. Bathrooms, kitchen, and all linens were very clean though.
-Not a robustly stocked kitchen, but very much served our needs. No dishwasher.
Nice location on the edge of town. Beds were comfortable. Some early morning flights out of airport do go over house. Friday evening you could hear sounds of a local race track but in both cases this intrusion was tolerable. In general the location was quiet. House has two bathrooms but one is in the basement. Worked ok for us but could be an issue for some as all the bedrooms are upstairs. Owner was staying in the detached gauge during our stay but we never saw him. Admittedly we did not spend much time at the home as we were visiting other family members in the community. We only slept at the home and ate a couple of breakfasts there. Would consider staying in the home again if we needed accommodations in the future. Had one issue with a screen door lock but the issue was resolved and the owner said he was going to fix the door so it would not lock future guests out. Owner was very easy to work with. The house lights and air conditioners were running when we arrived at the home. This made the home comfortable and easy to access especially if arriving after dark. There were 4 of us that stayed in the home including my 91 year old mother. We used the down stairs bath room and let her use the upstairs bathroom. The steps to the basement would be too steep for her to go down. Parking in the driveway made her access in and out of the home much easier as she does have some difficulty go up and down stairs.
The house is located in a quiet neighborhood near the airport (very few planes). Nice outdoor space. Comfortable beds and enough space for two couples. Could use an outside grill and newer dishes/pans etc.
The house was cute and 70's style furniture was fun. Unfortunately there needs to be attention to cleanliness. Lots of cobwebs, dust and grime, especially on kitchen appliances. Hand soap was waterd down to near nothing. Very odd owner stayed in what he called "garagemahal" our entire 4 day stay. Trying be kind he knocked on our door 9am our last day, we could have been sleeping. A bit weird for us 3 females. Would never stay again.
Went with friends to Walla Walla to do some wine tasting and enjoy the fall colors. House was close to downtown and to the airport wineries. Jim has a great house - we were able to spread out and enjoy our privacy as well as congregate on the deck for afternoon happy hours! We did use the kitchen to cook breakfast and found everything we needed. Very clean and comfortable home with a throwback vibe. Would definitely stay again!
This retro 1960's home is ideal for three couples or two with kids. Nice views across the air field. Great to meet the owner, Jim. Very interesting backgound in the area.
The property is a little dated, however I knew that going in based on description and photos. I think a pros and cons list would be easiest.
Pros:
Jim, the host, is super friendly and easy to contact.
Everything in the house is labeled, which is very helpful.
There's a pool table downstairs
The two large beds were very comfortable.
Location is remote enough to be calm, but close to downtown to be easy.
Cons:
There are a few window A/C units, but they're a little loud.
Water pressure isn't the best (I thought the showers were ok, but the sinks were a little light).
The third room has 2xtwin beds. I heard they weren't the most comfortable mattresses.
Overall we had a great stay, and I'll be sure to be back.
Great front yard with multiple places to hang out. Inside there were ants everywhere and the place was very dusty. Home owner was easy to reach and friendly.
Overall a good experience. The porch was so nice; both in the morning with coffee and in the evening after a long day of wine tasting. Jim was very friendly and accommodating.
The place really could use a professional cleaning, but it was plenty spacious and conveniently located.
My husband and I gathered here with another couple as a home base for our weekend exploring the food and wine in Walla Walla. The setting was quiet, the host friendly and helpful.d
Our experience was wonderful. Comfortable, clean, cozyâŠ. sunset views to knock your socks off. Jim was the best host! Easy to reach, accommodating. Already looking forward to coming back
We were in Walla Walla to celebrate our daughter's wedding along with 5 other family members, and this was the perfect place for us to stay. We all enjoyed it's cozy, comfortable atmosphere and peaceful agrarian setting, reminiscent of my grandmother's home. We especially loved gathering on the deck/patio in the evenings to visit and marveled at the spectacular sunset!
Jim, our host, was so welcoming, friendly and accommodating. He went out of his way to ensure we had all we needed to enjoy our stay. He even lent us a pump to inflate a blow-up unicorn for the wedding celebration.
Thank you, Jim, for helping to make our stay there so pleasant!
This was our second time staying at this property. Itâs on a peaceful street, close to town but still quiet. The owner is wonderful, very accommodating and helpful. Our sons love the pool table and dart board and we enjoyed dining on the front patio. The house retains its original charm while still providing all the modern conveniences. Thanks, Jim, for another memorable stay!
This is a very quaint little house in a nice location. Owner was very responsive and helpful. Only cons were the very limited air conditioning during a heat wave and second bathroom being downstairs in the basement.
Owner host was very welcoming and friendly. It was not mentioned that there is one rumbling window unit in the living room and one in the main bedroom. The three bedrooms share one very small bathroom. Didnât say the second bathroom is in the basement. The kitchen is painted countertops that are terribly chipped. No dishwasher. We didnât eat there because we didnât want to be in the kitchen. You can use the coffee maker or hairdryer if you turn off the air conditioner. OLD furniture inside and out. In spite of all this, we made the best of it. One slept in the living room, two in main bedroom and one in bedroom with two fans. We enjoyed our time out and about sightseeing. We did have a very good time playing pool at night. Sorry to give this report. We could have just left and found another place.
Staying at Jimâs home was nothing less than nostalgic experience. You can tell that Jim has taken great length to keep up the old charm and quirk of his childhood home, which is wonderful located in Walla Walla.
Jim was incredibly warm and welcoming. Would definitely recommend staying and enjoying the experience, as we will be again soon!
