The Neighborhood:
Dupont Circle, named for Civil War hero Admiral Samuel F. Dupont, is the grand hub of D.C., literally. This traffic circle is essentially the intersection of the main thoroughfares of Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts avenues. More important though, the area around the circle is a vibrant center for urban and cultural life in the District.
Along with wealthy tenants and basement-dwelling young adults, museums, art galleries, and embassies call this upscale neighborhood home. Offbeat shops, specialty bookstores, coffeehouses, and varied restaurants help the area stay funky and urban.
Add to the mix stores and clubs catering to the neighborhood's gay community and this area becomes a big draw for nearly everyone. Perhaps that's why the fountain at the center of the Dupont traffic island is such a great spot for people-watching.

Nice location No air conditioning in the loft Could not sleep up thereJust a trickle of water from the bathroom sink, the shower had good water pressure
I saw a review a couple days before my my stay that indicated the air conditioning didnât work and the guests had to sleep on the floor. I checked with the host to make sure the ac was functioning for my stay. There was no power to the loft so the ac unit in that space didnât work at all. Two beds and a living space were completely unusable bc is was one thousand degrees. I had to sleep on the tiny couch in the living room and make the living room my bed room which put strain on the whole experience for the group. Host assured that maintenance would come but they never did. Place is very cute and good location but two whole beds and living space unusable is absolutely unacceptable for the price. Also make sure you have a strong plan for parking bc that is also problematic.
I went with my husband and 2 teens. Loft was like walking into an attic in the middle of summer. It was suffocatingly hot. The owner was not able to fix the problem and we had to put the mattresses in the floor of the living room which was also hot from the heat coming from the loft. We were not able to cook and had to keep all the windows and shades closed and lights off to keep the living room cool. The freezer even starting dripping into the fridge as if it was starting to thaw because of the heat in the room. Bathroom was even hotter. We didnât use any dryers and took cool showers to not heat up the bedroom. This was an old building and it was 100 degrees in DC but we should have still been able to use the space that I paid extra for. The living space was not big enough for 4 people to sit and enjoy. The loft was to give everyone space throughout the week after spending long days together. Location was good
