Welcoming and light ground floor studio short walk to dwnt Silver Spring & metro

Separate and private spacious walkout basement studio unit with separated sleeping area, kitchenette, inviting hangout/tv viewing area, natural light, and ventilation. The separate entrance has a coded entry. Off-street parking is available in the driveway. I live upstairs; there is a locked door between the units. I am available for neighborhood information or any challenges. Easy walk to public trans (0.7 mile to metro) and a robust array of markets, dining & shopping options. Two sump pumps run when raining - the upside is it can sound like sleeping near a brook. The ceiling is a reasonable height but be mindful if over 6'.
Note: It's not great if one has mobility issues.
There is a great feel to the place—exposed brick and joists with modern amenities. There is Wi-Fi, a smart TV, a kitchennette with an induction cook top, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, fridge, and dishes.

Unit DOES NOT include a washer/dryer. There is a clean and efficient laundromat and block away.

Great walking neighborhood and downtown Silver Spring begins around the corner. Off-street parking is available.

Great Experience for Our 5 night Stay

Close enough to DC via metro bus and metro rail. We had a good experience with the public transportation. Ruti was generous and had two Smartcards we could use (10 value) that we added to for our trips back and forth from DC. The basement apartment was perfect size for my husband, teenage son and I with designated areas for sleeping (FYI no doors in sleeping areas for privacy)and sitting together for eating and entertainment. One suggestion, when you DO stay (and you should!) bring a deck of cards or a board game if you are into doing that during your down time. The apartment is nicely decorated and comfortable. *bonus the electric towel drying rack - an unexpected luxury!

As Good As It Gets!

Cozy and convenient home away from home for family visit

The cozy studio was as advertised and a short walk to downtown Silver it was a great place to stay on our long weekend visit. Really tall people like my husband may need to duck. But as the ceiling is low. But he's 6'5 inches so above average. Spring

Peaceful spot in Silver Spring, MD

This listing was perfect! It was a converted basement studio with a private entrance. The studio was spacious, spotless, quiet, and beautifully appointed. The bed was so comfortable. Check in, check out, and communication with the owner upstairs was easy. It was a long walk to the Metro station. I walked to the station twice but also took an uber to the Metro station, mostly. The shower had plenty of hot water and the entire place was a relaxing experience. I stayed here for five nights. It is not a short walk to the Metro station so keep that in mind. Highly recommend!

Great for extended stay

It was a great stay. The place was just as listed and I felt comfortable getting to red line and bus route. Bed was cozy. And kitchen worked well for my needs. Good access to Safeway and Whole Foods. I would stay again

Very Clean, Unique Spot

Ruti did a great job in providing a basement space which was very clean, nicely decorated and had everything we needed. There are many restaurants and shopping opportunities really close by. Parking available right next to where you are staying was very nice and not that common in the area. Not too far from D.C if you are wanting to sight see.

Basement Grunge

Not up to VRBO standards. It was a basement room: exposed pipes, ductwork, upstairs floor joists, wiring, and sump pump. It rained so sump pump ran all night - loudly. No actual kitchen, just a utility sink, microwave, electric kettle, hot plate, and small fridge on wall at foot of bed. There was no separate bedroom; the bed was wedged into a corner with about 8 inches of space on either side. Multiple slipping/fall hazards: outside steps were narrow concrete with no handrail; rag rug in front of utility sink; no bathmat or grab bar in shower. The bathroom door handle was a wooden dowel. The exterior door had windows and a cat door that had been taped shut. The metro was 0.8 miles away because of construction, so don’t know that is a short walk. Overall, not an experience to repeat and we left 2 days early after a single night.

Mid-November Stay

We enjoyed our stay here, and found everything we needed in the unit. The location is great, being walking distance to the Red Line Silver Spring Metro station. The neighborhood is friendly, with many walkers, with shops and restaurants close by. (Sergio’s Italian was one of our favorites.) The owner was very helpful and we enjoyed talking with her. We would definitely stay here again. One consideration before booking is the stairway down to the basement level. It is narrow and steep, with about 5 steps, which we used carefully, but it might be difficult for individuals with knee problems.

Loved it!

Truly enjoyed our stay here. I wish all vacation rentals were like this - homey & not owned by some corporation. Bed & couch were super comfy. Location is ideal! Walk to dinner & a quick drive to nearly everything. Really appreciated having off street parking available. This is literally a basement of an older home, so be prepared for a bit of rustic character (which I love) and cute quirkiness. Best part of the stay was meeting the owner, who is so lovely & truly a rare gem of a person ❀ Highly recommend!

Good location in quiet residential area

We spent four nights at Ruti's basement apartment. It's located in a residential area in walking distance to the laundromat, grocery store, and other amenities. It’s just a 15 minute walk to the metro. We felt safe walking in this area even at night.

DC Weekend

Had a very lovely stay in this studio during a weekend visit to DC and Maryland. Location was close to everything. It was easy to use local transport to DC. Clean, convenient stay

We enjoyed our time in the DC/Maryland area by staying in this comfortable rental in Silver Spring. With multiple coffee making options, sleeping arrangements, and bright bathroom, and parking, we were happy to have found this place. We, however, were a bit disappointed that the elusive Deen the cat did not make an appearance. :) We appreciated the attention to details, cleanliness, amenities, and excellent communication that made this a great stay away from home.

Ideal base for exploring

Making an unexpected trip to the US to visit family in the Chevy Chase area, we were pleased to find this basement property. As previously mentioned, the convenient quiet location is ideal with easy walking access to both the Metro/bus system, shops, laundrette and restaurants. The No 16 bus, picked up from around the corner also takes you into Downtown Silver Spring Shopping centre and onto the Metro/bus station. Ruti is a lovely host and communication and access easy. We would stay again and highly recommend it wholeheartedly and agree, this is a gem in Silver Spring.
