Come enjoy this cabin retreat nestled in the mountains of Webster County just outside of Bergoo, WV. Relax the afternoon away watching wildlife from the covered front porch then spend the evening grilling on the large covered back deck or sitting around the fire pit.

If kayaking and fishing are your interest then play in one of the many local rivers with Elk River being the closest. Also enjoy the Back Fork of Elk, Gauley, Cranberry, Williams, Holly plus many trout streams. Fish miles of the Elk River with in minutes of the Cabin. Elk River can be walked to with-in a 10 minute hike.

If snow skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing is your interest then be sure to visit Snowshoe Ski Resort just 26.5 miles away. After a hard day of play come back and warm up around the fireplace or in the fire pit. Cabin features fully equipped kitchen, Smart TV operational through the satellite Internet and Wi-Fi.

Might be out last time visiting

We have stayed at this cabin before and it was great. This time left much to be desired. The hot tub was not working, that was fine. The internet was out virtually the whole time, that made it very hard to communicate with the property manager. The shower was dirty and clogged with hair, pots and pans left dirty, no propane for the grill, no firewood even though I asked before we checked in and was told there was some there. The Left side kitchen sink leaked and drained to the floor, dirty towels were left in the cabinet to use. I was just overall disappointed this trip. I can’t say I would stay again. I know some of these things are not the property managers fault, but it would keep us from coming back.

Huffman Thanksgiving

1st the road sign was missing and we got lost!! Once we arrived it was great! Relaxing. Hot tub was a big hit. Had a few issues that were taken care of on a holiday! Vey appreciated. Plenty of blankets. Wood burner was so cozy! This cabin is good enough. It could be so much more! Beautiful views. River short walk down the hill.

Beautiful Escape from Reality! ❤

We arrived shortly after dark to a cute front porch that had string lights across it and was very welcoming! The cabin was clean and well stocked with fire wood, towels, toiletries, pots and pans, etc. I can't think of one thing we needed and did not have available to us. The manager responded to every message that I had in a timely manner and I had all the info that I needed to get there, check in and get the wifi going before I even started packing. Hot tub worked perfectly, there was a charcoal grill, smoker and a propane grill, plenty of options if you are prepared! It was gorgeous and I'd recommend it for anyone wanting to get away from reality for a minute. My ONLY complaint with it has nothing to do with the cabin or management, but the neighbors. They have a HUGE German Shepherd that is very aggressive, 3 times he ran full speed at us, growling, barking and lunging, stopping feet short of us to the point we had to shield our dog. I feel like if our dog had been out off leash, he would've attacked him. It was extremely stressful not being able to walk down the road or out in the yard and not look over your shoulder. I'd beware if you have dogs or small children, simply because of this. Outside of that issue, we had a wonderful time and I couldn't have asked for more.

VERY MISLEADING

Was told there would be propane to use the grill and tank was empty. Black mold all over the bathroom. Couldnt contact owner due to wifi not really working. Which i understand is intermittent. Hot tub area was unusable due to filth and grime. Stayed here in July and the ad says window ac seasonal & no ac were in any windows. Overall needs a MAJOR CLEANING. VERY DISSATIFIED

Good For What it Was

Location was very nice. It was by a creek and was beautiful outside. Inside there was a thick film of dust on all shelf and fan surfaces and the water reeked of sulfur. One disappointing thing was the hot tub didn’t have a correct cover on it so it would lose water just from sitting over night(with the cover on as the owners required every time the tub wasn’t in use). Also the windows had tarp nailed over them so you couldn’t look outside while enjoying the hot tub. Overall, the cabin would be phenomenal if a little money and sweat equity was put into it. Would i stay here again? Probably not, but there are definitely worse places to stay.

Recommendations

This is the best option if you want to go fishing on the upper Elk River. Consequently, we have stayed there three years in a row for a week each year. However, I don't think we will stay there again. We thought the house was filthy dirty and needs a deep cleaning badly. If we do stay again, we will plan for the following accordingly: 1. The grill is unusable due to not being cleaned and there was no gas. 2. We will take sleeping bags and pillows to use on the beds. 3. We will take our own towels and wash cloths. 4. We will take our own drinking water. I don't think that anything has been done to maintain or improve the property in the last three years. It is a shame, because it has the potential to be a really nice property. We also don't think it is safe for children.

Our time on vacation was great !! We knew that we were staying a distance from snowshoe , but we were happy to find a rather remote cabin for a great price .. the location was beautiful the house was however a bit deceiving . It looks nothing like it did In photos we looked at online. The first being no hot tub. Seasonal. If not for winter season when ??? Too hot for summer . Upon our arrival the fireplace area was a mess , cobwebs on deer antlers bugs in the corner. No lamps upstairs worked only had lights from ceiling fans and some of them burned out. Ceiling fan in bedroom looks like it’s about to fall in floor hanging by cord . When wood was delivered they actually dumped it on ground beside porch. Not at all satisfied. First time from Vrbo, not a good showing.

DON'T DO IT!

So I booked this place as a Christmas getaway because it was perfectly half way between my niece and I, and we wanted to let our 3 toddler sons have their first Christmas spent together. About a 5 1/2 hour drive for us both. My parents, son, and I headed there first. My son is 3 and type 1 diabetic so I have a bit of anxiety traveling and being away from his doctors, on top of I ended up having to have surgery the day before we left to have my gallbladder removed. BUT I was making it happen regardless, especially since it was already passed time of being able to cancel. So we head to the cabin. I had not gotten check in details so I sent a message to the host, figuring she would have to message me within the next 5 1/2 hour drive. I then sent a few more over the drive since I hadn't heard from the host still. We got to where GPS said the address on the listing was, but it was just the middle of a road. The only driveway we found to a cabin had a pad locked line blocking off the drive way. So we're 5 1/2 hours away from home with no cell service, a diabetic 3 yr old whose pump needs to be changed, and me fresh out of surgery with NO WHERE TO GO! Luckily we picked a direction and after about 45 minutes ran into a tiny town and found the only small hotel. It was a bit shady and scary that first night considering there was no one at the front desk, just a sign on the locked door that said if you're in need of a room take a key and check in in the morning. (I want to put here that it was called webster springs motel I believe and actually ended up being a super cute little town and motel) The host finally messaged back the day that would have been the last day of our stay. They did give me a refund (though I ended up still being out money on the cabin plus gas and time) when I finally talked to the host she offered me a free stay and to give the money back that we were out, but of course after the message offering that she quit replying again. Don't make the same mistake we did. And I will never go through VRBO again, YOU ARE NOT PROTECTED IN ANYWAY! THEY DIDNT CARE WHAT SO EVER THAT WE WERE STRANDED WITH NO WHERE TO GO!

Not as advertised.

First we are not city people. Hot tub was broken. Cabin was dirty. There was a bat living in between the wall and ceiling. I caught and removed. Cabin is not secluded. 2 other cabins within 30 feet. Neighbors German Shephard attacked our dog on day one and tried again on day 2. Property manager didn’t respond to messages until last night there. Tried to blame it on the app logging her out. Asked before arrival about a grill. We were told the “maintenance” would be sure to fill the propane tank. It was empty and we planned two meals to grill out while there. Overall not a great experience.

Break from reality!

Unfortunately the internet was out. There was no firewood and the propane for the grill was empty. The cabin could have been a little cleaner. The hot tub was nice but the water was green. Despite those things the cabin was wonderful. If your looking to get away and reset. This is the place. It is in the middle of know where and the scenery is gorgeous. Can't wait to go again.

Misleading and didn't respond after I arrived

The property was nice. The heating and cooling system is not in working condition. Or the hot tub. When I messaged her to ask if the cooling system works? She just never answered me back. Only found 1 fan to use, in a closet onto of window ac units. So apparently this has been an issue. My brother had to drive 25 minutes to nearest Store to buy a fan.

Nice Get Away

We were looking for a quiet place to enjoy the mountains and we found it. Our host was great communicating with us about any questions we had. Hot tub was wonderful. Could listen to the river and mountain stream on the porch and the rain on the tin roof was a delight. Would love to visit again.

A little disappointed.

We’ve stayed at the Copper Roof Cabin once a year the past 8-10 years. We love it. But we were surprised when we arrived this time. It was the hottest week of the summer, in the 90’s, and there was NO air conditioning! We found 2 window units in the master bedroom and had to install them ourselves. Should never have happened. We were looking forward to the hot tub in the evening only to find an “out of order” sign laying on it. It needs many minor things fixed. It’s just not quite as nice as years past, especially the last 2, which were very nice. There was a vase of dead flowers on the coffee table, which I’m sure were very nice when alive. I noticed there is a new name as host of the property. The last one did a much better job with the upkeep of the property. We may be looking for a new place to stay. So disappointing.

Great Location

My family was in Webster Springs for a family reunion. The location was great. Not to far from Webster Springs. It was easy to find and easy to check into the cabin. We where disappointed that the hot tub was working. We where looking forward to using it. We didn't find the AC units until the last day. We didn't realize the cabin didn't have central air. There was mouse droppings on some of the beds. The satellite internet worked really well.
