Overall the property in good, clean condition with two issues. 1 - The owner/property manger has written instructions on a piece of tape on the front door that the handle/lock isn't working or something like that. One of our guests was in the house by themselves, walked to their car and shut the "open" door behind them and got locked out of the house. Needless to say, I had to leave the mountain, becuase I had the only key that was provided (another bad move, you need at least two keys for guest) and had to open the door. My neice was outside, in 20 degree temperatures for 30 minutes wearing a tee shirt and shorts. Tell the owner to stop being cheap and spend the 150 for a new lock, and mount the lockbox somewhere other than the door handle, you can't get a good grip on the door handle to turn it. 2 - Our family convinced our grandmother to come on the trip with us and the ONLY reason she agreed is because that we told her she can sit in front of the "working wood burning fire place" and read her books. I opened the fireplace doors to start a "Real Fire" and there is an electric heater in the fireplace, which of course ruined her couple of days, which made the rest of us miserable. FYI, if in the description it says working fireplace, please explain if it is a cheap, crappy electric fireplace (who even cares about that) or a REAL fireplace that burns actually wood. This was for only three days, but it was an absolutely miserable experience.
We booked this property without reading the reviews. Once we did read them, we were nervous about our check-in. However, we are pleasantly surprised to report that our stay was great! The house does look brighter and newer in the photos, but we loved the cozy, dim vibe once we were there. Lots of fun decor and great books throughout. This is a well-loved home! The beds were very comfortable and we were so happy to be so close to Mt. Snow and all of the action. We even did a day at Stratton, just 25 minutes away. We had 5 inches of snow one night and the driveway was plowed by mid-morning. There was lots of dry firewood stacked up for us, ready to go. So those concerns from other reviews were not an issue. The only problem we had was when we wanted to add an extra night. Vacasa does all of the communication for this property and we had some issues getting the price right. Once we asked for a supervisor, the issue was settled and we were able to solve the problem. We would definitely stay again!
Only positive: location great. Right near grocery store & close to Sundance Lodge.
First time I've had a VRBO with such misleading photos. When we received Vacasa arrival text asking how our house was with cleanliness and did we need anything we didn't get a response from anyone local for 3 days. Listing photos show massive piles of firewood out front, so we didn't buy any to bring. We got 5 pieces of wet pine wood in a trash bag that wouldn't burn and was too long for stoves- axes provided were broken. We immediately reported this. We reported house was filthy and other than clean bed linens the floors looked like housekeeping had been sweeping all dirt under the beds and couches for months. Within a few minutes of arrival we found our dog chewing bubble gum-chewed gum on doorway. Cobwebs and dust virtually everywhere. Bathroom floor upstairs was brown with dark hair/missing tiles with gross buildup. Toilet covered in hair. Bathroom heater cover laying on floor. Urine stains on rug. Heaters provided when plugged in trip the breakers and the lights go out upstairs. Listing photos show a light airy space - very dark, minimal lighting. Driveway solid sheet of ice, we had a fall of a senior citizen. Driveway so bad our F250 with new tires and ebrake set slid down driveway 20 to 50 feet TWICE. Customer service didn't tell correct people- no one checked in with us until day 3. Finally got driveway sanded day 3. Local Vacasa guy was kind and apologetic. DEEP CLEAN needed.
The property was great and close proximity to mountain. A bit outdated, but overall very comfortable. We got 14 inches of snow one night and nobody came for 2 days to plow driveway which was very disappointing. The garage code was not working and had no shovel. We replaced the battery to the garage and then was able to get into garage. Other than that, would rent again.
The place is alot more run down than the actual pictures in the sight. The entrance looks like an entrance through the basement with stairs that goes up to the second floor dwelling. Given the basement level has a tiny kitchen and a bathroom which doesnt have a working heater and damaged ceiling (has sheetrock replaced), it more worst condition, my kids wouldnt shower down there. The second floor is alot nicer more home comfort feel. The kitchen needs an update.
While the location is great, the house was reallly run down and dirty. The lock box is broken so the screen door slams it constantly. The coffee pot is broken on the bottom. I reported both and nothing was done during my stay. The upstairs bathroom has missing tiles with a spongy/ moldy wall exposed and the downstairs bathroom has a patched ceiling which is dirty and gross. The kitchen sink faucet leaked under the cabinet. I was disappointed by the property.
Great ski house for a family vacation. Plenty of bedrooms and 2 living areas which is great. The kitchen could have been better stocked with pots and pans. Eg, there were no small saucepans and no cookie sheets. Also we were not told we needed K cups for coffee. The biggest complaint was that we couldn't get the fireplace unit in the stone fireplace facing the sofas to work. They should have provided instructions. Also, better TV instructions are needed. We figured it out, but would have appreciated having instructions. Finally, be forewarned that the one upstairs bedroom with all the windows was freezing cold, even with heat on and space heaters.
Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay! Location was great and house was a nice size. Everything was clean for our arrival. The woodburning stove kept us all toasty. Only thing to improve would be some more light in kitchen and living room area for games. Very impressed with the DVD collection. My family and dogs were happy with the space. The kitchen had what we needed. Thanks for a great stay!
Cozy retro cabin feel. Was everything that we needed. The lighting was a little dim and the downstairs refrigerator didn't seem to work but the upstairs one worked fine.
