Gave 3 star to staff and service because we didnât see anyone so we helped ourself to clean towels from âstaff onlyâ storage room and took the bedroom waste out ourselves.
As an IBS sufferer, I always carry my own toilet roll which was good in this case as when I arrived, there wasnt any in my bathroom. Also as I stayed in the room closest to the entrance, I did fid it was quite noisy/I could hear lots through the walls. However, there is a polite notice in the information booklets to ask other memebers staying to be qieuter after 10pm. I did really enjoy the bed, had an excellent sleep. The facilities were very clean, the kettle was exceptionally clean on the inside. The location genrally was quiet, with good local amenities.
Iâve had a more comfortable nights sleep in a hospital bed! I went on a hiking trip with my son so we werenât in the room much. However, even after an exhausting day of hiking in the Lake District neither of us could get a decent nights sleep.
There was no workable way of heating the room so it was freezing. The beds were so uncomfortable and no one had changed the sheets while we were out. Other than the main light there was only one small lamp on the other side of the room, so no way to put dim lighting on to try and relax after our hike. I also had a luminous green fire exit sign above my bed bombarding me with its jade glow all night long. The walls were paper thin and on separate occasions both me and my son could hear a couple in another room absolutely going at it!
To top it off if you left the bathroom door open after a shower for more than twenty seconds it set off the fire alarm.
The hotel was in a great location and the self check-in with codes to the property was perfect for our late arrival Friday night. However, at just shy of ÂŁ300 for 2x nights out of season in January, I think maybe some actual human interaction would help justify the cost.
There was also no parking at the property, so with all the parking restrictions in the area I had to keep driving up and down the one way systems of Windermere to try and find somewhere to park.
Supposed to be cheap and cheerful but neither reallyâŠ
A convenient place to stay, just a short walk from the train station. The room was nicely decorated and although advertised as cosy, it was fairly spacious. The bed was comfortable and more than sufficient amenities for a few nights stay. The bathroom couldâve been cleaner and the shower wasnât very hot or powerful.
Great food in the pub downstairs from a varied menu.
Lovely location, our room was spotless and spacious.
We were able to pay for overnight Parking at the hotel but lots of free parking on the road overnight.
The staff were lovely and helpful.
