About this property
Beautiful Garden Cottage in Restored Country Home
Enjoy a comfortable and relaxing stay in this lovely first-floor cottage in one of Gozo’s oldest villages. Eden 2 is part of a lovingly restored 300-year-old house of character and features the stone walls and attractive archways characteristic of Gozitan architecture.
Close to the vibrant village square and on a main bus route, this is an excellent base for exploring the beautiful island of Gozo.
You will have access to your own private cottage, private terrace, and a shared courtyard.
Eden is located in the village of Xewkija (pronounced show-key-ya). The vibrant village square, with a great collection of bars and restaurants, is just a few minutes’ walk away, and the bus route into Victoria, from where you can connect to other attractions on the island, is easily accessible.
Amenities and attractions nearby:
Several corner-shops and groceries
Ta'Saminu Bakery (famous on the island and just 5 minutes' walk away)
Xewkija Square
Xewkija Windmill
Gnien Blankas (Olive Groves)
Magro Food Village
Gozitano Agricultural Village
Top five suggested activities:
1. Enjoy an early morning walk around the narrow streets of Xewkija, followed by the famous Breakfast Ftira at 1939 Xewkija Bistro;
2. Explore the Rotunda of Xewkija in the village square. As the largest church in Gozo, it is visible from most parts of the island, and boasts the third largest unsupported dome in the world!
3. Wander down to the Xewkija Windmill, first built in 1710, to learn about the history of the village and the island at large, and then visit the Magro food village to browse their selection of Gozitan delicacies.
4. Take a stroll through the olive groves of Gnien Blankas… with some friendly alpacas! Book your alpaca experience through Gozo Alpaca Walks.
5. Take a guided tour of Gozo’s first craft brewery, Lord Chambray, which includes a tasting of four beers chosen from a selection of 12 beers on tap.
There are many attractions you can reach on foot from Eden Cottage. To explore further, hop on the nearby bus route, which takes you to the central bus terminus in Victoria. From there, you can connect easily to all other towns on the island.
House guidelines:
• At certain times of the year, ants and mosquitoes are a common problem on the island. We provide ant traps and repellent spray which normally work well, but you may want to pack additional mosquito protection. Please do your part to reduce ants by keeping food sealed and kitchen surfaces clean.
• Smoking is not permitted inside Eden. Smoking is permitted in the outside areas, but please dispose of ash and cigarette ends in the ashtrays, and not in the garden.
• Eden is a pet-friendly property – if your pet is well-behaved, then they are welcome! Please clean up after your pet. There is a nominal additional cleaning fee for pets.
• No parties or loud noises. Eden is located in a quiet, historical area and it is important to respect our neighbours by keeping noise down, especially when entering and leaving the building and always after 11pm.
• Our Tourism License does not permit us to allow extra guests without written approval.
• The septic system is effective and works well – unless improper materials are flushed. Feminine products, nappies and wipes should be disposed of in the bin, and the only thing flushed should be toilet tissue.
• The cleaning fee covers a general cleaning upon check-out. To avoid additional charges, please keep the studio reasonably clean and wash any dirty dishes before departure. Please dispose of garbage in the bins provided.
• You can check in any time from 4pm. Check-out is at 10am on day of departure.
• We have coin units installed for air-conditioning, in order to ensure efficient and environmentally responsible consumption. Just a couple of euros is more than enough to run the air-conditioning for reasonable use, and we will load enough credit for reasonable use during your stay. We recommend switching off the air-conditioning when you are out of the room. The air conditioning has a heater function, and a dehumidifying function too - you can access these using the 'Mode' button on your remote control.
