We ended our Croatian trip in Zagreb and thoroughly enjoyed the old world charm that Hotel Esplanade offered. The property itself is gorgeous, warm and inviting. Like everywhere in Croatia, the staff were wonderful. And, you have plenty of shopping and dining options within walking distance. Overall, this was our favorite hotel and deserves 6 out of 5 stars.

The only thing I did not like was the hairdryer in the room, it was bolted to the drawer and was very difficult to use. Also no iron in the room. Everything else was wonderful…

The property is gorgeous and staff is very friendly. One of the nights there was a very loud party downstairs that continued till 11 pm, despite of quiet hours starting at 10 . It was hard to sleep , especially when you are jet lagged . I called the front desk and they kept saying they can’t do much as they have permissions . May be be cognizant of other guests before permitting anyone to have such loud parties on the premises this late

The Hotel Esplanade is a wonderful Grande Dame of a hotel that was originally built to accommodate passengers from the Orient Express. In 2025 the Esplanade celebrates its 100 year anniversary. All the charm and history remains from that era, but the hotel has been completely renovated and offers all the modern amenities that today's travelers expect. We stayed two nights and were assigned a large, well-appointed room on the fifth floor. Service was excellent and the funishings and public areas of the hotel all speak luxury. Definitely eat in the hotel, both Zinfandel's and Le Bistro are excellent. The Esplanade is an easy walk from the old town and mere steps from the botanical garden which is full bloom during our visit. I would definitely go back.
