Come enjoy some of San Diego's forgotten beauty in this gorgeous, Piute Trail mountain cabin overlooking Lake Cuyamaca and just minutes from the quaint little town of Julian. During your stay, you'll have a chance to see wild deer grazing in the nearby pastures below, wild turkey foraging up and down the hillside (sometimes they even visit the deck!), raccoon's getting into their usual mischief, bald eagles soaring above or swooping in for a quick meal, owls, orioles, blue-jays, migratory ducks & geese, woodpeckers... and the list goes on! If you're into bird watching and/or photography, this is a great place for both! Using the cabin as a base camp, you'll be able to explore Cuyamaca Rancho State Park and Cleveland National Forest ,Anza-Borrego State Park with their many trails and viewpoints; fish for Florida bass, smallmouth bass, trout, crappie, bluegill, channel catfish, and even white sturgeon (Yes, our lake has sturgeon!); picnic on Fletcher Island; go boating; or just take in the peaceful surroundings and vast views from the comfort of the cozy cabin! Open year-round, including the snowy winter months when you can take advantage of the local sledding and snowboarding terrain. Available by reservation only, so plan early! We just love coming to this property. This time we came for a wedding at the old fire house next to the lake so talk about convenience. Came early to enjoy the outdoor, was able to get dressy for the wedding and go to and from only a short distance. Full amenities so we can bring our own food. The owners leave firewood to use and on day 2 the dog and rain rolled in so we used it all! With another night in front of us, and to our surprise, the owners refilled our wood discreetly and messaged us with the update…seamlessly. Sincere thanks to the hosts. Always a pleasure to stay.

This is a very pleasant place where you can rest and have a very good relaxation, looking towards that beautiful lake, we were lucky enough to have a heavy snowfall where everything became like a Christmas card The place was very clean and cozy and John was very kind and helpful to us, we asked him if he would let us check out later and he soon told us that there was no problem, we also forgot a Bible and he contacted us and very kindly sent us the Bible by mail and we are very grateful for that, he was also very attentive, that we would not lack wood for the fireplace. Everything was lovely, the bedrooms were very comfortable and the living room was very cozy, the kitchen was very functional and the bathroom was spacious and always had plenty of hot water. We are sure we will return again It is a highly recommended and spacious place Having 4 folding beds is a great plus

Beautiful lakeside retreat
Felt like staying at Grandma’s lakeside cabin- classic lake decor, cozy blankets, claw foot tub! We very much enjoyed the gorgeous view right out the front window. Sipping tea on the porch looking at the lake and mountains and trees- so good for the soul. Can’t get closer to the lake than this for this particular lake. Quiet area. Easy drive to Julian. All basic kitchen items available, easy to get in and out, responsive host. Do keep in mind in line with the country getaway from the city, the one tv doesn’t have streaming service.

Had an amazing time in this cute, cozy cabin. Beautiful view! Saw deer, wild turkey, hawks and two bald eagles! Great location for both Julian and Laguna Mt hiking. Can't wait to visit again!

Wonders of nature abound
We chose to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary here for the serenity and view of the lake. We got so much more. Wild turkey, Deer, Geese, Ducks, a symphony of beautiful birds and an hoot Owl. Accomodations were fantastic as well. We highly recommend a retreat here. We are recharged for sure.
