More bleak than luxe
Good location, but that’s it. This tired property is anything but luxe. The room is bleak (see photos) and smelled; internet was painfully slow; valets were unresponsive so we had to walk down and up the hill from the second building in the rain to get to/from breakfast; restaurant was understaffed for breakfast (do we really have to ask 3 times for butter for our toast, and for water?); shower barely had enough water pressure to function; and there was literally no quiet space (we asked) to meet with colleagues. There are no snacks and no kiosk for sundries. For all of these pleasures you also get charged $100/room resort fee (which also includes their “business center,” which is a table in the corner of the lobby.

The hotel is way past its prime. The lobby is passable, but the room we had on the first floor was unacceptable: the carpet was filthy, every piece of furniture was scratched, stained, or ripped, and the mattress was awful. The bathroom was ok. There are no stores or eateries within walking distance, and the hotel has no snack or drink options after the bar closes at 8:00. Do not stay here if u like clean comfort. Now having said that, we did need to be evacuated during the heavy rains. I want to give “kudos” to the staff that got us out of the building in a timely and safe fashion. Off-work employees were called in and transported the residents to another hotel in their own cars. Special thanks to Chris, evening desk person, and another lovely woman who I think said she was the CFO of the hotel. Guests were treated respectfully and professionally, and what could have been a disaster was effectively handled. Maybe now the hotel will get a much needed renovation.
