How Horror Films Begin
We left within hours of arrival when realized that there were locks on the OUTSIDE of the bedroom doors (so that someone could be locked in) and only a dog gate between the owners portion of the house and ours. The really scary part . . . the part of the doorframe that secured the inside lock for one of the 3 guest bedrooms was drilled in such a way that it only appeared to be locked from the inside but it easily opened from the outside. While the place was beautifully decorated and had lots of great reviews, all we could think was "this is how horror films begin." Perhaps the owners are just oblivious to how creepy this is and just think that 4 inch black locks look great on the OUTSIDE of the bedroom door. However, after sneaking out to avoid an awkward confrontation, we politely requested our money back due to the lock situation and did not even get a response. If this was an honest mistake, I would have expected an apology and a quick refund as they took the locks off. Instead, we are now working through VRBO, who told us to get out of the house and call the cops if we needed to. There is also an attached, occupied apartment with a tenant in it. Even if VRBO requires background investigations for owners who share spaces with guests (though I do not think this is a requirement) who is to say if this other tenant with access to lock my bedroom door from the outside could pass a background check? We didn't hang around to find out. Red flags galore. Buyers beware!

Stairs
Beware of the stairs. They are nice well maintained stairs, but some people can't or will have a hard time managing them. Typical old farm house, steep narrow stairs. Owners were very nice.

Loved this place and our hosts.
Exactly what we were looking for - great location (close to Burlington, but not Burlington); near rivers; beautiful, clean and well appointed old farmhouse...with adorable animals! And, fabulous hosts. We'll return for sure!

Beautiful home, gracious hosts!
Our stay gave us everything we hoped for and more. We had plenty of space in our upstairs suite, and looked forward to coming back to the coziness after long days of skiing! Jess was communicative and gracious about our late night arrival, and use of the kitchen. I also loved getting to interact with their 2 sweet dogs AND the goats! I highly recommend the stay, and hope to return next time I visit northern VT!!

LOVED! LOVED! LOVED!
Our experience with the property owner was amazing! VRBO overbooked the property and the owner offered us the second option for the original price. The apartment was very quaint and private and it was a unique experience where we could watch the baby goats and other animals while we ate. It was 20 minutes to the Convention Center and Essex Junction, and less than an hour to drive through the Lake Champlain Islands. We took one evening and drove to upper NY for dinner and could have driven into Canada if we’d have had our passports with us. Next time. Thank you the Jessica and Chad for a lovely experience.

Picturesque Home
Our space was warm, welcoming, and well-decorated. The space was well thought out, and the needed things were easy to find. Check-in was effortless and was in a great location. One note is that the guest space is upstairs with no full door to separate the host and guest spaces. The stairs and layout separated the space naturally, but we were unaware of this before coming in. This was not a big deal! We felt we had our area, and it was very private. Just a helpful note for others.
