The dining options were terrible. The restaurants on site are “all booked” 9 days in advance, but you cannot reserve them until you have a room number. This left us stuck with the same buffet for every meal, and most days food was cold and dried out. We did get into 2 restaurants late at night, Portifino, and Lapreza. Portifino was good food and nice atmosphere. Lapreze was disgusting food, smoke filled restaurant, and no breeze. We ended up leaving early because my son couldn’t breath. Pools get really loud throughout the day with multiple speakers playing. No areas to relax and unwind in a quiet environment. The arcade stunk like raw sewage. Stay away from the Dolin Dive center for excursions. We booked a Catalina island tour and snorkeling. They placed us on a boat with scuba divers. (I am an experienced diver) and the snorkelers spent the day waiting on the scuba divers. Scuba diving was only in like 20 ft of water which is good because they taught the participants how to dive in a 5 ft deep pool, not safe. I witnessed someone testing out on becoming a “master diver”….my test out for becoming an open water diver was more intense. We also booked fishing with dolin dive company and we drove around on the boat for 4 hours, nothing was said to us and we caught no fish. The one bite we got they did not let us touch the poles. The beach and the grounds were beautiful. Will never return. All they care about is their time share residents. No staff spoke English so very confusing

Food was good, but always the same in the buffet. Cats walking around dining room and buffet. Internet kept dropping. Everything is on an app: restaurant menu, activities, etc. nothing printed. Went as a group of 6, 2 in each room. Something was wrong about every day. Safe not working, cards to get in not working. Even water and electricity had days of not working. Cockroaches in rooms. The beach was congested and hard to find chairs. Venders coming to beach area and annoying, wanting to sell their products or take pictures. Staff in restaurants and buffet attentive and friendly. Always manicuring the trees, grass, leaves. Very pretty grounds.

The first day we arrived the service was exceptional for welcoming. The first morning at breakfast was excellent.(Monday) Every morning after that the service gradually got worse. 2 days we weren't offered any table service, refills or even water glasses. The door to our suite was very hard to open, housekeeper said she would report to get it fixed, it never got fixed. Our jacuzzi didn't hold water, it kept emptying. You couldn't go right into it because water was too hot coming out and had to let set to cool off and then it drained by itself. No elevator. If I would have known this, I would have booked a first floor room, not a 3rd floor room that I had to walk the stairs. This is just feedback, it wouldn't stop me from booking again. The bartenders were great. A lot of staff do not great you or acknowledge you when you walk by, I had to speak first with a smile at them to get a response.

Trouble in paradise
Overall this is was the experience I was hoping for. First of all, if you speak English and only English, do not come here! Most staff members do not speak nor understand English, or if they do, only barely. The food was OK, not terrible but not very good either. Importantly they do not follow food safety protocols, and I ended up getting a food bug: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK459348/ Generally cold food was not cold and hot food was not hot. The food was often not fresh - they left food out for much too long. The food should have had more spices, herbs, and flavor - it was too dull, simple, and lacked variety in flavor. The service was mixed but poor overall, disorganized and inconsistent and with many who were unhappy and unfriendly. Overall there is a problem with disorganization at the resort. Food may or may not be labeled. If labeled, food is often mislabled. Waiters may or may not come to your table at the buffets to fill up your water. It was unclear where to go and when and for what. It wasn't clear when and where to get transportation or how to request it. There was an hour long power outage across the resort with no guidance given, just silence Our air conditioning was not working the day we arrived. Staff were immediately sent to fix the air conditioning. They were unsuccessful, but the problem was there no communication about this and no follow up. They did move us to a new room after midnight, but only after I complained repeatedly and insisted.
