Really lovely little hotel but man does their staff need some lessons in customer service.
We arrived and at check-in I asked for a late checkout the next day, around 2pm if they could accommodate it.
The person working the counter said he’d have to ask the manager and get back to me. (First red flag - why doesn’t your front end staff have the capability to say yes or no to that?)
Anyways. I get a text message shortly after that my request has been approved and we can check out at 2pm the next day.
10am - there is a quiet knock on the door, we are sleeping so don’t really hear it. They knock again so we say one minute - as we are saying this, the person proceeds to OPEN the door! So we say excuse me?!, while we are trying to get ready. My partner goes outside and the guy says “I was checking if the room was clear”. What!? It’s 10am and we have a 2pm check out time.
We get ready, go downstairs to clear the situation up. I’m assuming this is the guy that knocked cause he’s like “well it’s an extra $40 for late check out and it hasn’t been paid so I was seeing if you guys were still sleeping. I was going to give you until 11:30”.
This makes NO sense. We were NOT informed of a $40 charge, and you entered our room while we were in there (with the do not disturb tag displayed) to see if we were still sleeping!? How creepy and awkward. You have my phone number on file, why not call? You could have knocked then left a note.
