They don’t tell you the square footage - good choice. Maybe 22-24 sq. feet.
Large curtain covering an entire wall. A view of the Manly foreshore? No, just a big, brick wall with four small colonial, perplex-sealed windows.
So, the air-con. BIG PROBLEM.
It’s a hot day is Sydney. Surprise – Summer in Australia.
I try and set the room to maximum cool, maximum fan. It instantly jumps back up from 17 to 21 degrees on the thermostat.
That sounds okay. But it’s not enough to compensate for the outside heat. I’m guessing the room is 27-28 degrees Celsius (80 Fahrenheit). I’m sweating. I’m not wearing clothes.
Okay, checked. No actual fan power. Just Hotel HVAC. Failing under today’s temperature of 33.5 . The controller is gaslighting me.
I’ve paid $270 for this room (Friday night).
I have doubts I’ll be able to spend the night here. Nightmare fuel.
Update: the room did cool down sufficiently, maybe they cranked the building settings, and the cool change that blew through around 6pm would have helped. I also spent a fair bit of time with my door opened-up to the corridor, which I imagine a lot of other hotel guests might prefer not to do.
Yes, the dance music went to around 1:30-2am. It was . . . okay, not great.
A few other notes:
- The bed was just two singles put together.
- The toilet seat was half unhinged – a bit of poo skiing this morning.
- Not super clean: hair on the room chair, corners grotty.
Breakfast was not too bad.
So, yeah, great location.
