Road to atapu is open. Rustic original 70s kiwi bach set among the bush and birdsong, in the quiet sleepy valley of Tapu. Sunsets from the deck nearly every evening, sea views and a very centrally located base with sandy beaches close by. Only 20 kms from Thames and a further 40 minutes up the coast to Coromandel Town for a visit to the Driving Creek Railway attraction. Cafe for coffee and brunch at Waiomu. I also recommend a visit to the Rapaura Watergardens a five minute drive away and the Square Kauri. The Cheesebarn is a 30 minute drive for award winning products and coffee, waffles, ice-cream and pizza as well as opportunity for children to feed the animals, well worth a visit. There is a boat ramp a short 2 min drive from the property for excellent fishing with boat parking on the property and the friendly Royal Oak Hotel is a five minute walk away serving delicious tasty meals. The hotel also does takeaways and has an off licence, if you feel like relaxing on the deck for dinner and watching the sunset. The nearest supermarket is at Thames, so it would pay to pick up your supplies on the way through.
The bedrooms are simple but adequate and the bathroom has been recently refurbished. The bedrooms and bathroom are downstairs and the living/kitchen is upstairs. There is a spiral staircase between floors and an alternative access to the upstairs space via the deck. The upstairs deck has a bbq, outdoor heater and outside furniture, extensive bush views all around and sea views across to the Firth of Thames. The deck faces towards the west for a view of the sunset.
