The rooms were clean. Thanks house keeping . I called to ask if my room had a balcony, they said all rooms had balconies, but they are not accessible. The pool was closed on days that were 80 degrees. I actually paid another hotel to use thier pool. It felt unsafe as a woman traveling solo. I was there to finalize tests for a kidney transplant with Wake Forest. Im connected to a dialysis machine for 12 hours a day so a balcony would have been nice. Every time i went outside (which is the back of the hotel unsecured)there were a group out workers drinking and smoking. The comments were so in appropriate. If i knew they were hosting a work crew i wouldn't have stayed here. Not to mention the working ladys that keep the parking lot on full rotation all day and night. I kept my room clean when I left, and tipped house keeping.

Comfy, infancy, and Hands-Off
This is a very hands-off hotel. The front desk staff were pleasant enough, but not really visible. They don’t tidy the room unless you ask. That’s fine with me. I just hope workers are getting enough hours. The bed was comfy and the hotel was convenient to downtown Winston-Salem. I walked to events all weekend.

Front desk could not help me find local channels on the TV. It turns on to a list of channels, none of which were ABC, NBC, or CBS. Going up and down around those were just blank. He said “You get whatever the package is that they have.” I later saw a code to scan that was behind the Tv and it showede how to get them! Also the continental breakfast choice was a muffin, a bagel and an orange of apple.

Hawthorne Inn - Winston-Salem NC
Hawthorne Inn is a comfortable and clean hotel. Check in was quick and simple. Only downer was the extremely small continental breakfast selection. Otherwise, well worth it for the comfort, cleanliness and privacy the hotel provided. Would certainly stay there again!
