The space
When the early settlers homesteaded the West Virginia Country side it was customary to have a house that sat to the back of the home that stored the food the family grew during the summer. By the time winter came, folks would have big bins of potatoes, apples, turnips, and carrots overflowing by shelves full of canned vegetables, pickles, and apple butter. Up stairs of the Cellar House, the family would store dried herbs and beans and perhaps a few tobacco leaves. Some families would use the top room to smoke and store meats for the winter too. Our Cellar house is part of our Bed and Breakfast- Country Road House and Berries. Guests can enjoy their stay in the newly renovated, yet rustic upper room above the cellar, complete with a "very comfortable" full sized bed, indoor plumbing, and accommodations for two people. The space is clean and guests have access to towels and hand made soaps. Guests can also experience the sights and sounds of the country as they listen to the nearby stream, gaze at the stars, or hike up into the trail located at the back of the field and visit the pond. This property’s location also allows guests to discover local restaurants and explore the outdoors while kayaking, fishing, hiking along the Elk River (home of the famous Muskie Fish). Also a close drive (approx 90 min) away from New River Gorge Bridge and White Water Rafting. With this reservation guest receive a hot homemade breakfast-dietary restrictions are accommodated.
Guest access
Guests of the cellar house have access to the upper room of the cellar. This features a comfortable double bed, kitchenet equipped with refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster. This is a private stand alone room not shared with another guest.
Other things to note
The Cellar House is part of the certified bed and breakfast, Country Road House and Berries, run by John and Angela Born are recognized members of the West Virginia Bed and Breakfast Association. Angela is a dietitian and can work around dietary restrictions of guests.

Also please keep in mind this is a century-old farm surrounded by many acres of land and woods. We love visitors. But not every single one of them is welcome! Try as we might, we cannot keep out every errant wasp, mouse, or stinkbug seeking food and shelter. Thx for understanding!

Best B&B Ever
Angela contacted us several days before our stay and asked up front of any accommodations needed. She then upgraded us without us asking which was very kind! Her husband John met us outside after dark and gave us a nice detailed tour. The following morning, we received a breakfast that was the best breakfast I’ve ever had my entire life! If I could give this B&B a 10 out of 5 star rating I would.

This felt like a cozy cabin in the woods. Everything was well prepared for us upon arrival. Angela was very generous and cooked a delicious breakfast. If I am every traveling through the area again, I will definitely look into staying here.

Great Stay
Loved the property. Great time. Definitely do not try to take a trailer as the area has no access for parking. Nothing against the stay just for information. Entrance road is one ish lane... LOL.

Unique
By using waze as the gps app it took us right to the drive. Once on-site we were met by one of the owners who was very helpful with us getting settled in. The room was advertised as rustic and it was very clean and comfortable. The next morning we were brought an amazing breakfast homemade by the owner and had a nice visit with her as well. Very nice people, off the beaten path and would totally stay here again. Maybe try the barn loft just for the heck of it.
