Could be great, but was far from it
Has the potential to be a nice hotel but it’s clearly opened far before it’s ready. Upon arrival, check in took nearly a full hour from arrival, due to a combination of long queues, technical issues with computers, and only 2 available computers at reception.
We had booked a suite, but the room we were given was not a suite in any sense. It was only when I questioned this with reception that they admitted there were no suites completed yet, and I had been placed in a junior suite (no separate seating area or anything you’d associate with a suite). Had I not mentioned it, I’d have massively overpaid.
Maintenance issues included the bathroom door neither locking or even shutting, and every time you closed it, dust flew out from above the over-bed panel. The room had a balcony but with no key to open them, rendered them pointless. The “rainfall” shower was a light drizzle and not adequate to wash under. All of these issues were reported on our way out, and we were told maintenance would go up. None of these issues were fixed upon our return.
We requested, and were approved for, a late checkout, but started getting phone calls from 11am from reception about checkout time.
On the plus side, the barman on the late evening shift was very friendly and improved our overall experience.
Could have been a great night, but it was let down by unfinished, misadvertised rooms, and lack of resolutions. We’ll stick to the Picadilly Mal, where you get much more for your money.
