We were informed on the route, shortly before arrival, that everyone was not being allowed to book into the hotel.
The manager said that the city had come in that afternoon and told them to shut down the hotel due to work that had not been completed and was not up to standard, and was not being approved by the city.
We then had to find alternative accommodation at a higher cost. We were offered a 50% voucher for a future visit, which, as this was obviously an ongoing issue by the city, which was ignored by the management, we declined.
When I asked why they were renting out rooms in the first place, I was told that they thought it would pass, but did not. These rooms should not have been rented out until the pass was received from the City. The friends that we were staying with were already booked in and were told that it would be ok, only to find out they had to pack and leave. Not handled well at all.
This was not a problem that happened suddenly, which would have been annoying but understandable. This was an ongoing problem due to negligence on the part of the hotel.
