Quaint Bungalow, near Great Lakes Naval Base
This cozy bungalow is located 41 miles north of Chicago; 60 miles south of Milwaukee, WI; and just 12 miles west of Great Lakes Naval Base. Nearby train stations make Chicago just a 45-minute train ride away. O'Hare Airport is a 30-40 minute commute from our home. Additional nearby sites include Great America, and shopping venues --from outlet malls in Gurnee and Kenosha, to quaint downtowns, like Libertyville. Location makes this home an ideal venue for Midwest sightseeing.
Home is an older home but redone nice. Since it is an older home the floors squeak a lot when walking on them. The heat was hard to regulate since itâs the old radiator heat but once it gets warm you will be toasty. The half bath in the basement isnât appealing since the basement leading to it is old and dreary looking. The bath upstairs is really nice. The backyard is nice.
We drove up from Florida for our sonâs Navy graduation. After 2 days on the road, the second day mostly in the freezing ice & snow, it was wonderful to come into this cozy, warm home. I loved the details & character of this older home. The floors squeak a little & thereâs some clanging as the heater turns on, but I loved those little bits. It made it feel so much more like a home rather than a hotel. The location was perfect for travel to & from Naval Station Great Lakes. There are plenty of stores, restaurants, & activities nearby. The kitchen had everything we needed for simple meals at the house and the beds were comfortable. I wish I had brought my own pillow, though, as mine was very (very) flat. Not a big deal at all, we just got a couple cheap ones from Walmart & problem solved. Overall we loved our stay and would absolutely stay again. This home had everything we needed and more. (Our son loved the piano! It had been several weeks since he played last so it was a win/win. Him being able to play & me being able to listen). Loved it. Definitely recommend.
Very charming! Quiet neighborhood. Easy communication with the hosts. Plenty of linens and towels, confident in their cleanliness. Kitchen could use a little spruce up, and the floors (due to the vintage nature of the house) were quite squeaky. However, neither of these things would keep us from staying again. I highly recommend.
With my daughter moving back to Illinois, we needed to help her get acclimated back to school. As former residence of Illinois, we still have plenty of family and friends that reside there and needed a good central location to stay. Hotels are overrated and just inconvenient. This little charming gem in the northern Of Chicago and was able to call at home for four nights. Super cute bungalow in a fabulous walkable distance to restaurants and shops, centrally located to amazing shopping.
The House itself was charming, had all the essentials one would need for a home away from home down to a lint brush. Highly recommend staying here for the area, will definitely book again!
A charming older home. Great neighborhood. Window a/c units kept us comfortable in 90° weather. Bathroom has been updated but kitchen could use some TLC. Queen bed is comfortable but low to the ground. Aminities were well thought out to make our stay more comfortable. Easy drive to Northbrook Sports Club and lots of great restaurants. Austin's restaurant was especially good. We had the fish n chips and easily could have shared the meal.
We were very pleased with the property. The house is beautiful, clean, and in a great neighborhood. Walkable to restaurants but very quite. Would definitely recommend this place! Travelled here for a Navy graduation and wish I could have stayed longer ;)
Being unfamiliar with the Chicago area, our group of 4 women was looking for a comfortable, reasonably priced, safe area to rent for a long weekend. This was perfect! Everyone liked the cute house which made a great home base and place to hang out. We found nice restaurants in nearby Libertyville and had delicious breakfasts at Mauri's nearby. Great homemade hashbrowns!
This is one of the most charming vrbo that i have stayed at. the house is just as 1
described
My son graduated
Navy Bootcamp and it was so nice to have the comfort
of this home vs sharing 3 hotel rooms.
We were in town for a wedding and this was the perfect bungalow for the 3 of us and in a neighborhood close to everything we needed to get to. Loved the charming rooms, decorative touches, comfortable beds, outdoor sitting area and it was clean. It had everything we needed. Would stay here again if ever back in the area.
The house is adorable and charming! It is an older home, floors are creeky⊠but it gives it character! Everything you need is on the premises! The neighborhood and surrounding areas are full of charm and character as well! We loved walking downtown Libertyville. The shops are lovely and the food is excellent. Downtown Mundalein was nice as well. We had dinner at Tina Gâs, food and atmosphere was excellent! There w was plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the musicians playing at the tavern, the weather was beautiful. We strolled through the neighborhood with its meticulously manicured lawns and cute little houses! It was a wonderful experience and we would definitely visit and book this place again!
This house was perfect for our needs. Plenty of space to spread out. If youâre not used to radiators, they can freak you out but we now know itâs all normal sounds. It stayed nice and warm for our stay. One bathroom for all of us to share was tricky. There is a half bath in the basement with limited lighting. Overall we would stay here again when we visit our family. 100%!
The house had everything you needed. It was clean and well maintained. The neighborhood had everything you could want close by. For those picking up recruits from Great Lakes it was only about a 15-20 min ride. Highly recommended and a great host!
