This property is by no means a 4 star property. It is at the standard of the motel 6 /redroof inn types in my typical experience. Pluses: Convenient location, walkable into town, decent parking Negatives: though staff are very freindly and attentive, they are under-staffed, facilities are barely functional (No heating in late august when outside temps dropped to 40F), breakfast facilities are not on property, had to drive to another location, barely any fgood there, nothing hot, rooms are small, bathrooms are old, even after specifically being asked and we requested room refresh after day 1, no service was provided.

Attended a wedding this weekend. Trailborn is centrally located, and has a night staffer who was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Free nut snacks available at the front desk at both Trailborn locations. Our room needed the door to be better sealed in order to minimize gnats in the room and other insects from coming through the door openings. Room floor also wasn’t cleaned prior to our arrival. Slippers or socks are a must to be worn in the room but beware, they will be black from the unclean floor. There are thin walls so you will hear your neighbors. Overall, was a decent stay.

The staff was so friendly. The food was delicious and we ate outside and listened to the live music. There was a fire and smores and they made fantastic margaritas. The rooms were clean amd comfortable. We would def return.

The property is infested with pigeons and pigeon guano (poop) which is highly hazardous and unhealthy. They were constantly on the stairs and roof outside our rooms. I noted to front desk and also send in an email but have not received any response. Recommend avoiding the property.

We had everything we needed except the settings were incorrect on the tv and unfortunately you have limited access to it. So nice layout, clean, and comfortable but hard to get past the motel-esque despite being renovated.

The overall property is wonderful, but we were extremely disappointed in the customer service when the air conditioning was not working during our entire stay. We were promised a 20% discount if we kept our booking after we found out on our own without the hotel being forthcoming that air conditioning was broken. We were also assured that it would be fixed within two days of our five days day. We were promised several different things and none of them came through. The air conditioning was broken. The entire stay, and the hotel will not respond to our request for a refund from our Expedia booking.

Stayed July 28–August 1, 2025. Checked in to a room over 80°F—reaching 82°F the first night—even with thermostat set to 65. Reported immediately, but no maintenance available and no other rooms open. Front desk gave box fans and water but no real fix. We found out shortly after check-in that previous guests had tampered with the A/C, meaning the hotel knew about this issue well before our arrival but never disclosed it. Followed up multiple times; on July 31, finally told the A/C serving our room and nearby rooms was broken and wouldn’t be repaired during our stay. Staff said they'd been dealing with this all week but guests were never informed in advance. Recent reviews confirm this issue has been ongoing since beginning of July and earlier. Offered a 20% discount (still pending), no other compensation despite paying $200+ per night for a non-functional A/C. Communication was poor, with broken promises about maintenance and room changes. Room was also disappointing—shower had no door, causing water to flood the floor. Only perk was its walking distance location to downtown Estes Park. Would not recommend until these issues are fixed.

The staff was hard to find for the front desk. The room was spacious but the bed was uncomfortable, the description for the pets is incorrect. Lots of weeks. Floors in the room were swept but not mopped. The walls are thin. They don’t have an area for pets to be off leash, don’t provide pet bowls. The outside had trash and other debris. The fire pit was nice but had nothing but weeds around the outside of the chairs. I would not stay here again.

This property was a freshly renovated older lodge/motel with new finishes. The finishes were sleek and efficient. It was somewhat clean. There were some small insects, in our bathroom window area. The bed was comfortable. A very social environment offering s’mores / fire pit in the evenings and areas to congregate. If you’re looking for deep rest, this probably isn’t the place for you. Noise was an issue at night, you could hear people walking around on the decking outside of the room, hear guests talking next door and many ambulance sirens due to the location. However, this is still a great option if you’re visiting Estes Park or Rocky Mountain National Park. The main areas of this hotel also had a very outdoorsy aesthetic.
