Welcome to CABANA BOY - the upstairs unit of this great duplex on the East End of Galveston just steps from the beach. 3 bedrooms and 2 baths welcome up to 10 guests welcomes you to relax, refresh and renew your body, mind and spirit. Coastal and colorfully decorated with just the right touches to make it feel beachy without overdoing the decor - every detail has been considered from the fully equipped kitchen to the cushions for the front porch (stored inside when not in use) to the comfortable mattresses to the picnic tables in the backyard - with the guest in mind in every decision that was made. Your safety is #1 - your comfort is # 1A when it comes to this property. Come Stay With Us and experience the difference of great properties, great comfort and great service at Cabana Boy - welcoming up to 10 guests ---- and if you have a larger family or group - the downstairs unit of this duplex – Beach Babe - also welcomes 10 - so up to 20 can be together but separate if you know what we mean!
The exterior spaces of this duplex are shared between the guests in the two units (upstairs – Cabana Boy, downstairs – Beach Babe) including grill, fish cleaning table, picnic tables and enclosed parking.
This home is the closest to one of Galveston’s famed Italian/pizza restaurants – Mario’s Seawall just steps from the door. Grab our favorite Joey Pizza, a great salmon salad, amazing pasta dishes, and home made gelato/ice cream or other fabulous desserts to eat at home- or dine at the restaurant indoors or out and enjoy the leftovers later. There is also a Mexican restaurant steps away (Gorditas) which is great, and of course the beach is just across Seawall Boulevard. There are shopping options not far away from convenience stores to Walgreens to Arland’s grocery, and the larger stores (Kroger, Walmart and Randall’s are only a few miles away as well. The unit has full sized laundry in the home so you can stay longer while packing light – or opt to do your laundry before going home. Because families and individuals have personal preferences and can have skin sensitivities, we don’t provide laundry products.
Bedroom One has a queen-sized bed, Bedroom two has two full-sized beds and Bedroom 3 has two sets of bunk beds – each one twin over double. You should note that you walk through bedroom 3 to get to bedroom 2 – so if there are privacy concerns these should be considered and addressed before folks choose their sleeping locations in the home.
The only thing we haven’t included at Cabana Boy is the actual Cabana Boy!

Whether you’re traveling on vacation for the beach, the history, eating your way across an island, or work (there are several refineries, hospitals and other industries that bring workers to town) make Cabana Boy your home away from home. Close to groceries, restaurants, historical sites, etc. – or if you’re coming before or staying after a cruise on Carnival, Disney, Royal Caribbean.
We provide starter supplies prior to each guest’s arrival which includes paper towels, toilet paper, soap, shampoo, conditioner, dish cleaning options, trash bag and starter supplies of coffee. These are intended to get you started – figure out which shopping option works best for your group, and make that first grocery run. Nothing worse than running in from the car and not being able to use the restroom, or waking that first morning with no coffee! These likely won’t last your group the duration of your stay – but they will get you on your way!
All beds are made with fresh linens prior to your arrival so if you arrive late, you don’t need to make the beds – or bring your own sheets, or rent them from a local vendor. We provide one bath, wash and hand towel for each guest the home sleeps (10). If you are bringing up to 2 additional guests and paying the extra fee for those guests–please know that there is bedding and towels for only the 10 guests that the home accommodates in beds–so please be prepared with your own. We do not provide beach towels – we used to – but they tended to go home with our guests – we do have customized beach towels available for rent during your stay. For 10 towels the rent is $50 for the duration of your stay. We will need to have a credit card in the event any of them go home with you and the replacement cost is $25.00 per towel.
Remember that All people are considered people regardless of age or size or how they “usually” sleep. Occupancy rules are set by the homeowners with the guidance of the fire department. Thank you for recognizing that even infants count in the occupancy (though we don’t count pregnant women twice.) While you will find broom & dustpan, mop and bucket, and other basic cleaning items – we do not expect you to clean the house before you leave. In fact, we don’t even ask that you strip the beds. We ask only that you remove any food from the home and refrigerator, leave notes for future guests about the treasures you found in restaurants, souvenir shops, or excursions while on the island, call us to make your next reservation, and lock the door behind you. If you spend any time at the beach, we would only say it’s nice to kick off as much sand and shake off your towels before returning into the home and if you happen to bring in a bunch of sand, if you would sweep that up it would be great. Lots of sand can make for a slippery floor throughout the home – safety first!
After making your reservation you will receive a link to complete our renters agreement. The only information we request differently than the booking platforms (VRBO/AirBnB) is your personal email address, the names and ages of each person who will be in the property during your stay, and your driver’s license information as well as an emergency contact should we need to reach someone on your behalf. Thank you for completing this in a timely manner so that we may send you the check-in instructions for the property you have reserved.
48-72 hours prior to your scheduled arrival – we will email you directly (the guest who made the reservation and provided their email address) with driving directions and check-in instructions. We will then call 24-48 hours later to ensure you received it, verify we provided the correct code to the home, and answer any last minute questions you may have. We are available at any time to assist you or answer questions – but we like to tell you in advance so you don’t think it’s a scam when someone asks you to verify the code. In general – we leave our guests “alone” to enjoy their stay – however – please don’t think that is because we don’t want to help you – we do! Whether you are celebrating a birthday, engagement, anniversary or wedding or some occasion we haven’t thought of – let us know. We like to surprise people with a little something extra when time permits. If you wish to have something specific in advance and if we are able to do it – order a cake to be ready for you, have decorations in place, etc. – we will do so (again – time permitting!) and most often we charge only the cost of the item(s) and a small surcharge for delivery and set up. We are here to answer any questions you may have or make recommendations – so please do not hesitate to reach out to us before or during your stay.
We kindly request that you follow our HVAC professionals recommendations: • Please do not change the system more than 3 degrees per hour. • Please do not set the AC below 70 degrees in summer, or above 74 in winter. • Keep the fan setting on auto. • If/when doors or windows are open – please do not run the system. • There should not be more than a total of a 20 degree differential between outside and inside temperatures to keep excessive stress off of the system.
For our properties that are dog friendly: Dogs are accepted on a case-by-case basis depending on the breed and size of the dog. There are certain breeds, or mixed breed dogs that have the bloodlines of any of those breeds, that are not covered by the owner or management company’s insurance and/or are not permitted by the complex in which the property is located. This applies to true service dogs as well – if their bloodline contains the breed of pit bull, rottweiler, Doberman, shephard or chow – this particular animal cannot be at the property. ESA (Emotional Support Animals) are not considered service dogs when it comes to rentals. If you are bringing an ESA you will still need to pay the fees associated with bringing the dog. We request that dogs not be permitted on any furniture at the property unless you bring your own coverings for the furniture that will be between the dog and the furniture. Please follow all complex and City of Galveston regulations with regards to leashes, specific dog areas, etc. We strongly encourage you to travel with the vaccination records for your dog in the event anything were to happen during your travels you would have the information readily available to you. Dogs should be kenneled inside of the property when there are no humans present.
For all reservations made directly through our website and through VRBO, there is a $300 security deposit “hold” required. You certainly can purchase trip cancellation/interruption coverage through those platforms as well if you so desire, this is a damage “deposit” hold. This is released once our housekeepers advise that the property has been left in the condition received with no damages occurring during your stay. This is not a charge, but a hold on the credit card on file with which the reservation is made.
