This beautiful, brand-new beach house on the West End of Galveston is the perfect family vacation destination. This was a great place to stay for our annual sister/cousin camp. The access to the beach is very accessible and easy to get to.
The bunk beds are not made for teens or adults as they are very hard and the mattresses are very thin however they have an extra mattress available. This house does not have a binder with instructions for when you leave and the door is very hard to lock.
We had a great time and would stay at this house again.
Great property with an ocean view and really conveniently located near the beach. Quick response from owners. It is about 30-40 south of Galveston, but we liked the quiet pace and lack of crowds. We would definitely come back!
Property was at a good proximity from beach. Basketball court was awesome! The condo was clean. Wish there was more outlets outside and the only real issue we had is that the A/C didnât get the condo very cold. Some of the people said they sweated the night out.
I want to start off by saying we WOULD return to this property again. The location was perfect for our needs, a golf cart ride away from the beach, and a nice distance from the crowds of the city of Galveston. Additionally, it was spacious for our needs.
This being said, this rental unit, managed by a company, was lacking the basic "comforts" of home:
-While the place was clean, the crew clearly mops with the doors OPEN. There was dust and hair behind every door. Likewise, all of the white room doors and the kitchen cabinets were dirty from fingerprints, and dirty mop marks on the bottom of room doors.
-3 rolls of toilet paper are supplied per bathroom. This is NOT adjusted per your length of stay, and ours was a full 7 days with 4 adult/ 4 kids.
-There are kitchen towels, but no kitchen clothes/rags, and only one roll of paper towels.
-There is a basketball hoop our kids LOVED using, but we flew to Texas and had to buy a basketball upon arrival. I assumed a ball would be provided for the hoop.
-It was chilly, and there were not enough blankets provided. This was quickly fixed upon request, but disappointed I needed to ask.
-The bedrooms have nice closets, but only a single night stand to store clothes. There were about 4 -6 hangers in the entire unit. We called and this was quickly fixed, but I feel bad for the crew running these things over all the time. We were delivered about a dozen, but we had two families staying a week. Purchased more at Walmart.
-Only a few mix match wine glasses, probably left behind by past guests. On the other hand, 4 or 5 wine bottle openers were pprovided u. I wwould think wine glasses should be included in the basic set up.
-There were dozens of steak knives, but few cooking knives. The kitchen knives that were available were dull. I requested kitchen knives, and was brought more steak knives, which was funny actually.
Honestly, this home is nice, and we would stay again. I point all these things out because they could so easily be remedies by the management company. This is clearly not an "owner/caregiver" present situation. When we had a need, we were leaving a vm with a national company (which isn't a bad thing, just a point to note about who you are renting from.
We RECOMMEND this unit, but bring your own:
TP and paper towels; boogie boards, beach chairs, beach supplies; basketball; dish soap, dishwasher soap, laundry detergent, etc if staying more than a weekend.
This is a nice house in a wonderful location with easy access to the beach and a quiet neighborhood. The property itself is nice. The house was not clean enough, however. The main areas were clean; the upper cabinets were clean; the towels were clean, the linens were clean; the refrigerator was very clean. All of the corners of the rooms were pretty dirty, though, like when kids sweep/mop. There were ants in the living room on Day 1. Also there were dead roaches in the lower kitchen cabinets and the utensil and silverware drawers had plastic holders that were filthy with crumbs and ground coffee? spilled in them. The first thing I did was wash everything in the kitchen, including the silverware and utensil drawer holders (but left the roaches -- see cabinet lower to the left of the sink). Then, once I had the skillets/pans from the lowers clean, I just left them out on the counter to avoid looking into the roachy lower cabinets. I am a Tx native. I understand roaches come with the territory. But they have to be cleaned out once they die from the extermination. Seeing those dead roaches really grossed me out and started my first day off with a lot of extra work. But since we cooked a lot, I could not stand the thought of using anything that I did not personally clean. Also there were almost no kitchen towels/washcloths but fortunately I brought about a dozen, knowing that most rentals don't have enough items to clean with. The beds were all terrible. I slept ok later in the week but my husband is a big guy and did not. The beds were very loose and squeaky. The bunks in the kids' room were also reportedly very uncomfortable. This house could be GREAT with a king size, firm bed in the master (turn it the opposite way, under the window) and with better bunks/secondary beds and with these cleaning issues resolved. It also could have used more toilet tissue. There were not many rolls at the house considering we rented it for 6 nights. Overall the house was good though. My recommendation to improve your stay: bring your own cleaning supplies; bring extra washcloths and towels; bring extra cleaning rags/towels for the kitchen; bring all your own shampoos, laundry soap, beach chairs etc.
Short and sweet getaway with some room for improvement
Location was great, beach access was perfect and away from any crowds. The only real downfall was all of the beds.. oh and the house shakes anytime someone walks.. the beds were not comfortable. The mattresses all need to be replaced.. but we still had a great time regardless.
We loved the location, the beach access was great! It was our first time to stay in the West end and we will DEFINITELY be back! Loved TerraMar and the house was clean and even bigger than the listing made it look. Highly recommend!
Great place for family outing....would love to do this spot again...only negative thing is reception is bad ...lot of drop calls....other than that it is a A plus place.!
