I like historic bed and breakfasts and have started in many. While our stay was comfortable, the property does require a little TLC. Some repairs were being made during our stay. However, I would have liked to have someone assist us with our luggage up to the second floor. Both my sister and I are around 60 years and with most B and Bs there are no elevators. Arrangements had been made for late check-in, but the key did not work maintenance had to be called to assist us into our room, which had also been changed at the last minute with no notification. When I inquired I was advised that it was an upgrade. I was offered our original room which I was then advised was at another nearby property and that was very confusing. I did not want to have lug or baggage ask the way down both sets of staircases and back in the car, so I declined. Once in the room, it was clean and comfortable, but lacked the period decor details you would expect to find at most B and Bs. I think the room would have looked better if the carpet had been pulled up and had the wood floors refinished and added a rug. It probably would have been cooler too. Unfortunately the carpet edge next to the bathroom was cut raw and I tripped and stubbed my foot twice and the extremely high original wood transition between the bedroom and bathroom. That needs to get replaced before someone more seriously injured themselves. Furthermore, breakfast was disappointing-repeated, reheated, and no fresh fruit.

Tammy was great. Checking in was hinkey because Google took us to the blue house instead of yellow. Television didn't work, but Tammy fixed. No hot water. Boyfriend took cold shower. Not me. There was a dirty washcloth wadded up behind the window curtain in the bathroom. Breakfast was chaotic, pancake mix was old, ran out of the egg/potato casserole, ran out of sausage and had to switch to bacon. I stayed at this property many times when it was Victorian Inn and absolutely loved it. Was really disappointed this time.

Marcia, Hi. I am glad you came and stayed with us and I am sorry you were disappointed with your stay. I got with Tammy and wanted to address a couple of things on your review. I am sorry Google took you to the guest house. Both are side by side, and we certainly have no control over what Google brought up. Tammy said she reset your TV because the guest before you had changed the input so they could watch Netflix. There was nothing wrong with the TV. I went and inspected the shower and the Hot/Cold lever was reversed. I apologize, I did not know they had done that when I had the mixer replaced last week. I do appreciate you letting me know. I COMPLETELY apologize for breakfast being chaotic the morning you joined us for breakfast. We DID keep our normal morning cook home that morning because of fever and we just did not have enough time to prep everything. The person I had come into cook used the gluten free mix, and it does not taste good at all. I am happy to compensate you for breakfast since it was below our standard. In retrospect, I should have closed the kitchen that morning and put out the contenintal breakfast. If you will give me a call, I am happy to return some of your stay. Blessings!

I loved the style of the building and the unique interior. It was my first visit to Galveston, so I had never seen this type of hotel before. I was looking for something traditional.
