Great location, 30-45 minute walk from main sights. Good reasonably priced restaurants right around the corner. Great and helpful staff. We had a connecting room and so we heard our neighbours talking, however it wasn’t an issue as they went quiet at a reasonable time. Windows are soundproof and have good blackout curtains. I would definitely return to this hotel.

Overall, the Marlin Waterloo was a disappointment. 1) Hideous smell in the lobby. Whatever disinfectant they are using they need to ditch and fast. I had to hold my breath every time I walked through the lobby. 2) The key card system needs to be improved. A card is needed to turn on the lights, which means that, if two people are in the room, they have to come back at the same time to use the remaining card. 3) The fact that payment in full is required upon check-in is written in small print on all advertising. That made check-in distinctly unpleasant. 4) The front desk help was polite, but did not have as much knowledge about activities around the city as was expected. 5) The rooms were reasonably clean, but they seemed to be a premium on towels and toilet paper. Had to request them to have enough. 6) The laundry services required payment to use the dryers. The washer did a less than adequate job. 7) It was difficult to access available streaming services on the provided TV. Lots of screen freezing. 8) The best aspect of the stay was the manager. I believe he was the manager, anyway. I believe his name was John and he was French. A very pleasant person and always very responsive to any problems we needed to have addressed.

It was just steps away from the Lambeth train line as well as Waterloo station. Easily walkable to London eye and Big Ben, Westminster abbey, etc.

The Traveller

The hotel was very convenient to the tube station and I was able to get around London quite well. The hotel was near a small Sainsbury which made it nice for snacks or a breakfast in your room. The staff was great and extremely helpful.

The reception areas of the hotel smelt gorgeous ! The staff were good. Everything was tidy and clean however we had what I can only describe as an old B O sweat smell in our room. Not overpowering but there. I noticed it but didn’t say anything and then my daughter mentioned it. The worst part of our stay was the awful clattering noises coming from the bathroom every half hour ALL the time including all through the night. We were exhausted after exploring London all day so was really looking forward to a good nights sleep but unfortunate not. For that reason alone, I wouldn’t recommend staying at this hotel. We are half way through our 2nd day of exploring London and we are all shattered beyond belief as none of us have had a proper rest to reset for today!

The rooms are larger than many London hotel rooms. The price is reasonable. The breakfast is very good. The staff is friendly, capable and friendly. In particular we thank Hugo for his ease in check-in and selection of our rooms for our 5-day stay. Be aware, also, that the hotel is minutes from a tube station, busses, food stores and good restaurants. We dined at close-by Cotti (Italian) restaurant twice to enjoy it's wonderful food, capable, pleasant staff, and, amiable owner.

We booked a Classic Room, but were given an accessible room, which was not what we expected based on the photos. Unfortunately, we didn’t like the room, and the location wasn’t ideal either. Thankfully, it was only a one-night stay.

The location is a 10 minute walk or less from the London Eye, several Hop On/Off bus stop, river tour boats and 12 minutes from Big Ben. Area is safe, a 24 hour supermarket about 50 steps from the entrance, which was Awesome, specially since our room was equipped with a small kitchenette (stove top, Pans, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, utensils, etc). Waterloo Train Station is 15-18 minute walk. Receptionists were all very friendly, helped me pre-order taxis for early rides, and the breakfast buffet was DELICIOUS 😋 I recommend this hotel anytime.
